vinegar uses??
I just bought a gallon of distilled white vinegar and was wondering what is your best kept secret using around the house? I've heard of several different ways but I'm looking for clever little tricks, hacks and even simple ways. I always tend to not use it just because the smell is horrid but I am interested in starting. I like to switch up my cleaning methods and products every so often.

My mom uses a mix of vinegar and water in a spray bottle as glass cleaner. She swears by it and will never buy windex again.
If you have cats that like to scratch things my one cat likes to scratch walls. If you spray vinegar on the wall they don't like the smell.

I use vinegar and baking soda to clean my washer, floors, and coffeemaker.

I just put it wherever you normally put your fabric softener
deleted-user·
Do you just pour it on the towels or put it in the top where the soap goes?
deleted-user·
I use it as a counter cleaner, to clean my carpets (kids ?) and as a fabric softener on my towels because traditional fabric softener makes them less absorbent.
Eta: I wash my fruit and veggies in it too. It especially keeps the berries from getting moldy.

To clean the inside of the microwave. Vinegar and water in a cup put it in the micro wave for like 3mins let it boil then let sit in there for about 3mins then wipe the inside of the microwave clean.
We have hard water and so once a month I have to clean our coffee maker or it starts brewing slow so I use about a cup of vinegar and fill the rest of the maker with water run the mix through the machine then run just water through. Brews coffee a lot faster again and no taste.
Also once I used water and vinegar and an old eletric tooth brush to get washed and dried pink gum out of clothes. Worked great. A little vinegar and water scrub then a little baking soda scrub then repeat.

Get one ofif those dish sponges that you can fill the handle with soap. Fill it halfway with vineager, half water and a tablespoon of dawn. Keep it in the shower to clean the walls, tub, even the sink.
I love this, my bathroom is sparkling.
Works great on mildew and lime.

It's a major color stay when you are dying Easter eggs. A little hot water, vinegar and what ever food coloring...
I use vinegar in the boiling water when I'm poaching eggs (for eggs Benedict or Florentine) as it keeps them held together best.

I use it as an all purpose cleaner for nearly everything.
Most of all to clean pet urine. My dog is potty trained but when she is super excited (like when we get home or when we get vistors) she has small accidents. It gets the smell right out.
It's also awesome to make Filipino adobo with ?

Run a quarter cup of vinegar and a quarter cup distiller water through your coffee maker once a month, followed by just water, and let it air out overnight. Really cleans out that built up hard water crud and the old coffee oils that can go rancid and slightly flavor your drinks.
I put a cup of it in every load of whites, sheets, and towels I do in the laundry to help lift out body oils. Keeps them from yellowing and keeps them smelling nice longer. I have cheap, white towels that are 15 years old that look better than my mother's expensive white towels she bought last year.
I soak my toothbrushes in pure vinegar once a week.
This one isn't a cleaning tip, but it's really great. If you ever have some leafy green veggies that were not eaten fast enough, like if they are limp but still good other than that not slimy/rotting, use white vinegar to bring them "back" instead of tossing them. Pour 1/8th of a cup into a tub with a gallon of water. Cut the ends off your veggies, then put them in the water to soak for about 15 minutes or so. Nine times out of ten your veggies will bounce right back and be crisp again!

Use straight vinegar in a bucket to clean up pet urine on tiles. It gets rid of the smell and it won't come back.
Put half a cup of baking soda down your drains and add vinegar until it bubbles up. It will help break down food and grime plus help make it smell better.

Cup of vinegar in with your towels keeps them smelling fresh and breaks down the soap that gets trapped in the fibers.
Vinegar and water to clean your mirrors.
Vinegar and baking soda takes off baked on food around your burners. Add some dawn dish detergent and it makes a great cleaner for soap scum in the shower.

To clean your washer fill with water and vinegar, a few tbsps of baking soda and juice from a lemon. Let it cycle.
Vinegar with a lemon and hot water for mopping floors, cleaning baseboards, and countertops.
