it's been very tough on us all. there's so much more going on with some other fsmily members, I think my whole family deserves a break!

I'm just so scared for him. he's been in pain for months and his weight loss happened out of nowhere. ?

How is he doing?

Colonoscopy came back normal. I believe they are going to take some tissue from his leg to biopsy it.

I know it's not much of an update. It's really driving me crazy and stressing me out on how they haven't found a cause for his weight loss or what's going on with his leg. ?

Any reason they suspect Crohn's? Did they happen to find inflammation at all in his colon? Crohn's can affect anywhere in the digestive tract. Could they try an upper endoscopy to check his esophagus and stomach?

He's been having trouble using the restroom but I'm not 100% sure why they suspected Crohns. They have ruled out almost every single thing and don't know whats wrong with him.

They call him the mysterious boy. I feel they may be looking over something. What do you think his weight loss can be from?

Well if he's not eating then that can result in weight loss. Also, malabsorption can cause weight loss and vitamin deficiencies.

You said he's on meds? Any research done on these meds as far as side effects? What is the muscle deterioration from?

They are likely looking at a muscular or metabolic problem given the tests they've run so far have been clear. Fingers crossed it's something manageable and he's feeling better soon.

Any behavior changes prior to him losing weight? You said he gained weight while in the hospital but lost it again once he was home?

I used to work for a social worker whose specialties included eating disorders. Have you considered this as a possible explanation for the weight loss? I hate to even say it. I have stomach problems that caused me at a couple points in life to lose a lot,of weight. I looked bad. I was accused of doing drugs. So I don't throw that suggestion of an eating disorder out there lightly.

If he is malnourished from a malabsorption issue be it from IBD, IBS or something else I suppose if it went on long enough he could get deficient in vitamin levels and it could possibly affect his body.

Have they checked his thyroid? If he's hyper, it could lead to weight loss and a hard time gaining weigh. It can also cause colon issues and vitamin deficiencies.

I hope he gets better soon and that they figure out what's wrong.

If it's not his thyroid, they should check for parasites. They can also cause some of those issues.
