My son got his tongue tie snipped yesterday but I haven't given breastfeeding a try just yet because he has thrush. How likely is it that he will want to breastfeed after him being use to the bottle nipple? I'm so worried that he won't like it at all and still refuse to breastfeed. ?

I'm not the most knowledgeable on this but a friend of mine pumped for the first 6 months until she got her child's tongue tie corrected. ? He picked up nursing right after and is still going strong.

During the first two months my nipples hurt so bad that I exclusively pumped and bottle fed my breast milk for DD. After they healed I tried breast feeding. And I haven't pumped since! She's three months old now.

This gives me a lot of hope but I won't set my hopes up too high. I've never breastfed my first nor did I pump, so I don't want to give up so easy this time. And if he doesn't like the breast, I will continue to pump

It took us maybe 6 or 7 weeks until he got the hang of it. If it seems like baby can't do it, just keep trying :) It might help to schedule a visit or two with a LC when you're starting out.

There is so much hope!! I pumped exclusively for the first 3 weeks because the hospital effed me over on giving me the help i needed, and general stress about being a new mom so i just pumped. Anyway i got so fed up with pumping that i used a nipple shield for 3 days while also giving a bottle of i felt she wasn't getting enough to keep her hydrated. In those 3 days i read EVERYTHING. Watched every video on latching and we perfected it in a total of 3-4 weeks. However she wasn't completely ebf until about 3 -4 months old. She's currently 6 months and judging by how attached she is to my boobs we will most definitely be nursing well past 1yr.
