I've been getting discouraged this last week about pumping and thinking I was going to have too formula feed my baby. But I just pumped this right now in one sitting! I sure hope my supply is picking up now. I almost cried to my SO because even though EP is exhausting (I'm sure breastfeeding is too) I'm more than happy that I even got past 4 ozs as I was only getting 3 from each breast this past week.

I was an ep too!! Have you tried to power pump? I had supply issues at around 6ish month and it did wonders.

Yay! That's a lot for one session!
How often are you pumping? I usually got 3 ounces per breast when I pumped at work. Depending on how often you pump, 3 per breast is great! Babies should drink about 30 ounces a day (kellymom.com has good info about amounts), so that would take 5 pumping sessions. If you pump every 3 hours or so, that should be enough! Do you pump at night, btw? Prolactin levels are highest in the middle of the night, so pumping/nursing at that time stimulates production and you may find you produce more at night in general.

Thank you!! Can you explain what power pumping is? I pump every time he eats. So every 3 hours or so. I pump about once or twice during the night. I'm usually in bed at midnight so I pump than and again when he wakes up around 3 or so. I never knew how exhausting it is to be pumping. It's a lot of work but I praise all mamas that pump and breastfeed! (Not knocking any formula feeding mamas.)

Excellent accomplishment! I know that feeling all too well. My supply was a lot less with my second baby. Pumping was exhausting.
My day's rave..I got to take a hot bath while both boys napped!!!

So power pumping is pump for 20 mins, rest for 10 mins ,pump for 10, rest for 10 mins, pump for 10. It sounds like a nightmare because it is lol. I did one session every night right before bed for 3 or 4 days. Good luck!! :

That's so awesome! On my best days I only got 4 oz total.

I shall give power pumping a try! And it's sucks not being able to pump a lot at times. I feel like my son isn't getting enough but his wet and poopy diapers prove me wrong. I just hope I'll get an even greater supply for when he starts to take 6-8 ozs.

Ciara, breastfed babies don't really ever need to move up to 6-8 ounces at a time.

Babies that drink formula tend to do 6-8 ounces at a time, but breast milk fed babies don't. Sometimes during growth spurts, they do want to eat again more quickly, but they don't need larger amounts per feeding. There are also tips at the link above about how to bottle feed breast milk babies. It slows down the process so they have time to register that they've had enough.
