???
My child is NOT disgusting just because he has HFMD. I feel beyond awful that he even has it, but now I feel like facking shat since my family makes it seems like he's so disgusting. I'm just gonna lay in bed and cry ??
Wow people are so rude. Who says that about a child? Its not nasty and disgusting at all. Get educated ppl. I worked in childcare for years and I never thought ill of any child who was sick with anything. Its terrible the pain they are in with the sores, but they aren't contagious once the rash shows up. I've loved on and cared for many children with hfmd rashes. I really don't see how anyone could call a sick child (or any child) disgusting. Wtf
Why would you make him sit on the hardwood floor? Get him a towel, make him a table with a box, use some sort of problem solving skills.
No one else there is pregnant, but do any of them know anyone who is? It's your job to contain it as much as possible for the sake of the other people there and the people they could spread it too, and risking spreading it so he doesn't feel bored or left out is silly. Are you sure you weren't the one feeling left out?
It's highly contagious and if there are other people in the house then there's no need to spread it further. I think the whole situation could have been avoided if you had served him dinner in bed. All 3 of my boys have had it. It truly is miserable. I hope it passes quickly and he feels better soon.
I guess I was in the wrong than.. I just didn't want him to feel completely left out. ? that was literally the only time he stepped foot out of the room.
Now since we can't even do much, what could I do with him to keep him entertained? ?
@skate, he's feeling a little better, just bored. His rash is going down and his hands aren't as bad as they were yesterday.
Because I will not isolate my son. He was in my room all day long for 12 hours. It was bad to take him out for all of 10 minutes just to eat?! I didn't want him to sit on wood floor to eat. That's harsh. The floor is hard. I mean we went back to our room right after he finished. No conversation was made after the comment was said. And yes my nanas house is huge. And our room is on the opposite side from where everyone was. And I know it's very contagious. I think I've said that a lot in this post and I feel awful not just for him but for my family as well. It's just not fair to single him out and make him feel worse than he does. He may not have understood what was said fully but he got the jist of it and the look in his eyes was just hurtful.
ETA: and I am the only one pregnant. 37 weeks at that, so as I am trying to protect him from everyone else, I am always trying to protect myself too. It's not easy. And I wish my son never caught this. I wish no child could ever get this. ?
It is very contagious and can be dangerous for pregnant women. Why not just let him eat in your room to protect others? I don't agree with shaming a child, that's not ok, but I also don't agree with taking a contagious child around others. Must be a giant house if it's full of company and you can keep him 20 feet away from everyone and anywhere where anyone will be that night...
Who cares almost everyone gets hfmd at least once in there life! My son had it and never blistered we only discovered it because his feet started peeling and toe nails started to fall off so the doctor ran a test and said he must have had it and we never knew it! And it doesn't usually show symptoms in people over a certain age so all you know one of them "adults" gave it to him! Smh people are annoying.
HFAM is exactly like having chicken pox, just in smaller particular areas, how anybody can say is disgusting baffles me, it's airborne, it happens, there's nothing you can do to stop it, tell your family to read up on their illnesses before they make stupid comments around innocent children ?
I hope he feels better soon xx
Wow so rude your son needs to eat. The only people that need to be really worried about getting it is women under 12 weeks pregnant or over 8 months, elderly, baby's and terminally ill. My son had it when I was only 10 weeks along, I have never had it before and didn't get it then. As long as the people have good hygiene and clean there hands before touching there face or food they should be good.
I guess I should've worded that differently....
Although, hfmd seems to be "disgusting and nasty", I know no one cannot help it if they come in contact with it. It's just an awful disease to catch and I hope no other mom has to ever experience it with their child. My son seems so miserable. I don't know what I can do to cheer him up....
I do not have a house right now. I am staying with my nana as of right now til after I have my son. Otherwise I wouldn't have anyone around him. We were not around my family at all, we have been in my room all day long and only came out that one time so he could eat. Like I said, we sat by ourselves away from everybody. He didn't touch anybody or even be within 20 feet of anyone. We were out for a total of 10 min max and after we went straight back into our room. It was just an awful feeling and terrible comment. I know what he has is very disgusting and nasty, no doubt, but he cannot help it nor can I.
I'm sorry you're hurt. That's no fun... that being said. Hand foot mouth, is disgusting and sucks even more for adults. While your child, isn't gross what he has absolutely is. Why are there people at your house when your child have something very contagious and is probably very uncomfortable. He probably would be more comfortable being able to move around without having to worry about people being in his space while he's not feeling well.
Edit: I'm one of the adults who managed to get it even though they had it as a child. Being an adult doesn't mean you're not going to get it.
If he already has the blisters, they have most likely already been exposed. He's been contagious for several days. Most adults have already had it anyways and will rarely get it again. We just had an outbreak in my classroom. 9 out of 12 kiddos got it but none of the 5 teachers did.
I made him a sandwich to eat since he didn't want anything else, mind you he was sitting far away from everybody and not touching anyone besides himself and his food, and one of them made a comment along the lines that he shouldn't even be out of our room and he needs to stay away. Like what in the actual fack?! He hasn't ate since 4 and it was 9:30, if he wants to eat than he can. He hasn't even touched or hugged or kissed anyone. Mind you everyone is over the age of 16. ? I know its super contagious, but he was sitting by himself with me. My heart shattered and he just got this sad look in his eyes when the comment was made. ?
Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no,
his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me...

Strippers.
How do you all feel about your SO/hubby going to the strip club? I honestly have jealousy issues and I dont approve of it for my SO, as he already doesn't like too go. But i feel like if he wants to see women stripping on poles, I can be his own personal stripper. Lol ? I am just curious to see what others feel and think!
Will your Mom be in the delivery room?
My mom made it sound like she was gonna be in the delivery room when I give birth, and quite frankly, I would just like it to be me and my fiancé. It's our first, and I want to share that special moment with just him. I don't want to hurt her feelings, and I know this is something she would really like to be a part of. So I feel bad telling her no.
@silly. I think you're being silly. I didn't feel left out at all. I rather be with him than be out with my family. Also, what comfort does a facking towel do? Nothing. It's still hard. My son hates sitting on the wood floor anyway. It's already done and over with. ?
