My hospital makes you strap the baby in the carseat in the room. Then they make sure it's correct

No.

When I had my son they didn't even ask if we had one (terrible I know)

They just wheeled me out with him in my arms and waited for their wheelchair back

I don't think they are allowed anymore

My hospital does not, but you can go to your local fire department and they will be more than happy to help install or check it for you :)

For rear facing the straps need to be AT or BELOW the shoulders (never above, that's forward facing only, and you should rear face for a minimum of 2 years but up to 4 is optional even with a convertible seat) and the chest clip at arm pit level. Never higher or lower. And then pinch test at the shoulders. You do not want to be able to pinch any bulk but want to be able to pull just a lift. And no coats, blankets, or thick anything between baby and straps and don't Clip the paci To the straps either.

That's a quick infant routine i always use.

You want to always adjust the straps every time you take baby in and out. A lot of people like to just set it (you should have a front thread strap between the legs at the front base of the seat, older and less recommended seats have rethread harnesses in the back, they are a pain) but you should loosen and retighten each time you take baby in and out to ensure a proper fit ❤️❤️ good luck mama

We plan on installing it on our own...i was just curious if the Hospital actually checks it or helps to see if it's installed correctly. We watched YouTube videos last night for our specific car seat. The base itself don't look too hard, I'm just not sure how to properly use the harness and all that.

Mine does not help you. They check it before you leave, to make sure you really have one. They will say if it's in right or wrong but that's it

Hospitals here check to make sure it's installed before you leave but that's it. They cannot touch them. Too much of a liability because people sue everyone for everything anymore.

You need to learn to do it yourself. A certified CPST will be happy to show you and check you but an actual certified and licensed tech will not and should not do it for you. They are licensed to teach you how bc so many car seats are incorrectly installed and at any time you will need to know how to redo it And cannot depend on someone else to do it for you. There are places and fire stations that have done them for people, but a certified car seat tech, will not. Always have a professional SHOW you. Join car seats for

The littles on fb it has more info Than you can shake a stick at about car seat safety.

A hospital might check that baby is strapped in properly, but they should never have any hand in installation. ❤️ it's very intimidating but once I learned, it's a lot easier for me to spot problems and corrections. Something that helps for a lifetime. Their little bones won't reach ossification for several years so it's so important to learn what to look for with a safe and correct install. Don't leave it up to anyone else ❤️❤️❤️❤️

I live in the city and took a taxi home (less than 2 miles). No one checked anything. Not even if I had a car seat bc people actually walk home sometimes too. I did have one and the nurse just showed me where to position the straps. That was it. No check when I left. Whatsoever.

Wow! I live in Ohio and they didn't even check for my son!!! The nurse just wheeled my son and I out and my husband was outside waiting and she said congrats and good luck and left! Idk if it's different for each hospital here. I should ask my sister in law who delivered at a different hospital. Now I'm curious.

I think it depends on the hospital. Ours checks it before letting us go home.

Most hospitals won't instal. Ours won't even help put baby in due to liability.

We watched a few YouTube videos and read the manual front to back. We have a infant bucket with base and honestly they are super easy to use. SS3 is rear facing in a Graco extend to fit and that's just as easy.

Also I always recommend car seats for the littles on FB. Just reading through others post can teach you soooo much!

My friend told me to wait and the hospital will do it. But I've seen posts before about hospitals not doing it. Maybe it's different at each hospital??

My case manager at our hospital (we have a case manager because of Nora's heart) said to not bother installing the car seat as the hospital will run tests and install it for me. I'm letting them handle it!

My hospital does! They are actually required to check that the car seat is properly installed before they can discharge you

Ответить

No not at all. It's a liability for them according to the car seat safety class I took.

Our hospital won't help or tell you anything. Be sure you know how to adjust the belts. Took us 30 minutes in the parking lot with our first before we figured it out. Not what you want to be doing 2 days after delivering...

Your local fire department should be able to help you out.

We installed ours this week and got them professionally checked to make sure they were correct. I called ahead and made an appointment (most police and fire stations check them). You don't want to wait until you take the baby home, just another thing to have to remember. Better to get it done now ??

Legally they can't install it for you. They can give you directions but not touch it.
