EYE EXAMS IN 3RD TRIMESTER

EYE EXAMS IN 3RD TRIMESTER

So I have an appointment Monday for my yearly eye exam and to get a new prescription for my contacts. I'm down to my last pair, and have been wearing them longer than I should be. So I NEED more!!

My bf's an optician and works for a doctor who I go see. My yearly is coming up and my vision has gotten a little worse. I didn't have bad vision, glasses helped me read a little better, but now I actually need them! I tried to have my bf schedule an appointment for me, but he told me they tell women who are pregnant to schedule after the baby's born since your vision does change. They told me it will change again after birth, so to wait till then. So I'm just putting up w/ it, but I'd rather do that then have to come back again after the Baby's born.

Wow thats a really tricky situation then. Are you based in America? I know in Australia, you don't need your optom to be called. That sucks

No it's no problem. I got one at 37 weeks

Buying them online is a good idea, they're much cheaper...but they want your dr phone # so they can verify prescription. If your prescription is not current, they won't allow you to order them. Done it before :(

I totally agree! I'd be so mad ? I have the 2 week contacts and I hate wearing them longer then that they bug me all day like they have a tear in them or something. Maybe try going somewhere else that takes your insurance. I usually can get appointments the same week where I go. That way you don't have to wait all month. Back to ur question tho I feel like my vision is the same as b4 I am 29 weeks today so I'm not much help there lol! Best of luck!! ?

I need a new exam so I can order new contacts. My current prescription expired last month, and I'm out of contacts.

Your eye sight changes whilst pregnant. If your sight is affecting you now, get them tested. If you're getting a test for the sake of it. Hold off, its a waste of time and money. Ex optical dispenser here??

Sooo I go to my appt and the receptionist was like, (in her most rudest tone) "you're appt was at 10am" I was like, "no I had 10:30" well long story short after arguing with this mega b**** , I had to reschedule for 3/22 ???

I was an optician for 5+ years. Your best bet is to get more of the same ones you have unless there's a problem. Drs say your prescription changes so they don't like to usually give out new prescriptions, i.e. Use what works already then test after you deliver. But...I've had 2 babies and I'm 6+ years my prescription has never changed.

Don't get new eye wear while pregnant. My vision deteriorated horribly while pregnant, and I don't wear glasses. So yes it's true that vision can change.

I got a new rx when pregnant then was told to go back after birth and/or when I was done bf. I have gone back during bf.

My eye dr told me that it's more common to see vision changes during and after your 2nd or 3rd pregnancies. It could happen with your first though too. He told me that if I needed a quick recheck a few months after the baby they would be happy to do it (without charging full price for a new exam). Just ask them!

I think I'm gonna go in there tomorrow and just ask him if I can get a few samples in my current prescription until after I give birth. Then make another appt for a new exam.

My vision seems fine. It's just wearing old contacts bother my eyes.

My insurance don't care about a new prescription, my insurance only lets me get one exam a year, and one purchase towards contacts a year. So I'm not trying to get two exams in one year.

Are you noticing changes in your vision? If not then I don't think it would be a bad idea to go in and get your RX updated. It's definitely not a good idea to stretch the use of your contacts.

You should still be able to submit your receipt to your insurance if you buy them online. Your insurance shouldn't care or even know that your prescription expired. It would just save you on having two appts that might not be covered.

Nope. Most optometrists won't do it. I always end up going after pregnancy. You wouldn't be able to rely on buying with that prescription since it could change after delivery.

nah i went to the eye doctor at about 24 weeks and there were no issues. i got a new prescription but it had been a few years since my last eye doctor appointment so i can't attribute that to pregnancy.

Yes- pregnancy def changes your vision! It changes the amount of fluid & pressure in your eyes. I had Lasik done & my vision is crystal clear... until I'm pregnant then it's a bit off till a couple weeks after delivery! I'd wait for a new prescription

Yeah pregnancy can cause your Vision to get worse... Not sure the science behind it but I've heard it many times. Hmm I'm not sure what I'd do becauSe you don't want to get a prescription that won't work after pregnancy and then have to pay for another exam if you're only covered for one...

My insurance covers contacts up to $100 yearly. My prescription was up at the beginning of February. I don't wanna pay for them, if I don't have to.

If you order from clearlycontacts then you don't need a new prescription. That way you could hold off your appt till after baby is born.
