When did you stop taking prenatals??
When did you stop taking prenatals??
I've been told that prenatals are good during the very early stages of pregnancy. Mainly for the spinal cord development. So did anyone stop taking them once they got into 2nd trimester? Did you take them throughout the entire pregnancy?? Or when did you stop taking them?

I'll take them until I stop breast feeding - or switch to a multi when I'm BF. I'm folic acid deficient so I also take a FA supplement for 1600mcg (vitamins only) of FA/day.
For anyone who gets sick I've been told to try and either switch time of day or take half in the am and half in the pm. I've also been told to take 2 multi (1 in am & 1 in pm). It's usually that it's too much vitamin at once if it causes nausea.

It sucks...this beautiful blessing of pregnancy but it's also bittersweet. And so it begins, what we do for your children!! I can handle the extreme tenderness of my breasts, the insane exhaustion, the extra trips to the washroom. But, the nausea...this "morning sickness" is by far the worst. And yes, mines amplified by my prenatal vitamins (but I continue to take them). Ginger ale helps, soda crackers, toast and water lots and lots of water. If this means my baby is nestling in for the next 7+ months I'll keep on keeping on. Some moments are worse then others. It's not all the time. Thank the Heavens for that!! We can do this, Mommies-to-be!! Hang on tight...ladies, we've apparently only just begun! ? (We can be sure to thank them after they've done their time on the inside later on...in their teen years! lol) a little humor to lighten reality helps!

Whole pregnancy. My daughter is 16 months old and I'm still taking them.

I took them during first and second trimester. Off and on on the third when I remembered. Now I'm breastfeeding and I'm taking them daily again.

I took it through out my pregnancy since day one of finding out and i will take it for my entire length of breastfeeding as well.

I never took prenatal vitamins; believe me I tried but they made me REALLY sick. I just took a daily women's multivitamin the chewy yummy ones. My doctor said it was perfectly fine

I didn't stop until I stopped nursing at 13 months

My doctor gave me 11 refills so I'm going to continue taking them throughout my pregnancy and after I have my baby.

Prescription pills have higher amounts of iron, so you should take them on a full stomach.

I gave birth 2 yrs ago and just finally stopped

I do take them before bed!!! Then while I'm getting ready for work the next day, I get very nauseous and I gag constantly. Ugh. I know they are wonderful and I should keep taking them....I just don't like how they make me feel.

Try taking them on a full stomach or just before you go to bed. It's still uncomfortable but a lot more manageable, symptom wise. Works for me!!

I stopped taking them when my daughter was 6 months old or so and switched to a regular multivitamin. I had read it's good to keep taking them while breastfeeding!

I'm taking them throughout because they're supposed to be a supplement for the mother because the baby will take everything they need from the mother no matter what. My doctor said to take them mostly for calcium because if not the baby will take it from your bones and teeth

I have store bought pills that I used pretty much up until 8 weeks. Then my dr prescribed some to me so I then switched to those. I find prescription prenatals make me feel sicker. Are those stronger or is my nausea just getting worse??

I am not the best at remembering, but I take them whenever I can during pregnancy and beyond since I breastfeed

They are just making me sicker now, than they've been. I started going every other day now. Just wondering if it's safe to do this. I'm 13 weeks and 3 days.

I didn't take prenatals the first 16 weeks because I had hyperemesis & I was super sick. I still get bad stomach pain, & I just take them when I can.
