I had a mild upper respiratory while I was pregnant.. My doctor prescribed me a z pack which odds completely safe while pregnant.. Your immune system is weakened when pregnant so something mild can be more serious. I chose to take the antibiotics so I could be healthier faster for my baby... She was born completely healthy
Thanks for the advice!! I'll have to look into a humidifier!
Oh thank you so much for the info!! I feel less worried now!! Hope u feel better soon!!! And congratulations!!!
@eshackleyd- so they didn't give u antibiotics?
I was actually wondering if that's something u can take being pregnant!?
It did start with a sore throat 6 days ago. Now it's sneezing and sinus headaches and a lot of bright yellow mucus. Sorry for the TMI. I have only been taking Tylenol for the headaches, but I'm just worried about the yellow mucus I'm blowing out, since obviously yellow is a sign of infection.
I actually just went to the ER last night because my sinus/upper respiratory infection was starting to worry me. Unfortunately they said that being pregnant, there isn't really anything we can take besides occasional Tylenol. They did however recommend a SALINE ONLY nasal spray/gel and a Cool Mist humidifier. They said once the baby gets here, I will need one anyway so it's a good idea to just get one now.
You could just be congested from the pregnancy. The hormones in your body make you produce more mucus and enlarge your capillaries (from producing more blood) which can cause discomfort in your sinuses. It can feel like a sinus infection. It could also be a cold if it started with a sore throat one day, and you can just let a cold run its course. If you are very concerned still, then go to your doctor. Just be aware that during pregnancy it is best to avoid any medications you can. Some medications are "safe" but they're not 100% safe.
Ugh. And I'm sick again!!! With another head cold! I'm getting chills too...hope I don't have a fever. Don't really wanna go to doc cuz I heard they can't give u anything
