Ew!!!
I really wanted some bacon at the grocery store meat department. The guy took my order, grabbed the plastic baggie the meat goes in, then stuck his BARE HAND into the meat case and grabbed a handful of bacon?! I asked him to wear gloves. He rolled his eyes, said he washed his hands “all the time,” and didn’t move. I told him to forget it and talked to the store manager. She was appalled. It’s been a long time since I worked in food, but I’ve had a food handler’s card before, and you have to wear gloves to handle lots of things, INCLUDING RAW MEAT. ??????
I do not wash raw meat. I heard it contaminates your kitchen needlessly.
I guess restaurants’ glove use is more understandable. But an actual meat department? I worked in a produce store with a meat department, and they would glove the “meat picking hand” and use the “clean hand” to type on the scale, or use the plastic baggie on their hand to grab the meat, then invert the baggie to contain the meat.
@gaby again, all that stuff has been an issue long before he was in office. I seriously sometimes believe he’s just a puppet in all this. Everyone is focusing on his stupidity and not focusing on real problems. It’s becoming ridiculous how often ‘Trump tweeted today..’ or ‘Trump said.... today’ is in the news. What about the rest of the world? What about OTHER issues that nobody ever talks about. I’m not trying to downplay DACA or the fact that someone was an a$$hat to you in public but they were like that before Trump came into office and they’re still going to be that way when his @$$ gets booted out.
@zombie I’m sorry you’re post is going into a completely different direction than your original OP. Handling raw meat without gloves is gross. Raw meat feels gross even when I have to prepare it at home I wash everything around me, and my hands, when I’m done lol
Next topic up for debate: do you wash your raw meat in the sink? ??
No, he hasn’t pp. it has been around a whole lot longer than him. I am not from the US, the US isn’t the only place in the big wide world and he has absolutely no bearing on others thoughts here, although he is a joke and most think he is a numpty. His thoughts and speeches mean feck all though. So blaming him for a worldwide issue that’s been around for hundreds, maybe longer years is ridiculous. To add an insult to the colouring of his skin whilst making that point is even more ridiculous
Let's remember that he defended white supremacists (kkk). And he doesn't stop his comments on immigrants from different countries. And how Mexico sends their worst, like if it's the only country that Hispanic immigrants come from. I've been talked down on for being Hispanic at the grocery store by a white man, in front of my son, because I shouldn't shop at the same store as him... what is he doing for our country, nothing in my eyes but wasting our taxes on his many golf trips where he supposedly works... remove daca that helped many immigrants be able to work legally and pay taxes without it counting towards a shot of even getting a green card. Make people think another country will be paying for a wall that is unnecessary when he knows if it happened it's coming out of our taxes...
@ocean- that perspective makes the comment even more disgusting! She just flippantly wanted to make fun of someone for not understanding her.
@gaby people were already like that before, even when Obama was president (drawings of him being hung, KKK clothing, ect). It’s just gotten worse thanks to the media on both sides constantly focusing on his antics and propaganda instead of talking about other, more important issues. ?♀️
I've seriously watch so many videos of people yelling at others telling them the worst things, and seriously using him as the excuse, he himself has said many racist things, so yea, he has made people think that it's ok to be that way when we're already living in a messed up society as it is.
All the ladies already hit the racist nail on the head so I’d like to ask; what does a lady, whose first language isn’t English apparently, cutting your meat too thin have to do with an unsanitary problem the original post was even talking about?
If you’d left the racist bit at the door, your comment would literally have nothing to do with this post other than you talking about someone handling your meat in a sanitary condition. ?
So someone makes a stupid racist comment and then pp follows it with a comment just as bad. Wtf has trump got to do with this OR racism? It’s been around a hell of a lot longer than him AND you can’t sit here ridiculously shaking your head while having a go at someone else’s skin colour, whether it’s a fake tan or not.
Friggen hilarious that you’ve made your comment and argument blaming him for racism whilst being bloody racist yourself ??
Should have added there’s no trump here in Aus and quite frankly we couldn’t give a flying rats arse about him and yet there is racism. Guess I should go find someone to blame that on from here now
Seriously, it was straight up racist and totally unnecessary. There are tactful ways to convey a language barrier that aren’t rude as hell. Yes, it can be frustrating when there are communication issues, but did you do anything to help the situation?! Pull out your smart phone and get google translator out. Geez.
@pp idk how you even thought the “no speak English” comment was even remotely appropriate to say. To come back and say “it’s the truth,” is even worse. English is one of the hardest languages to learn. Hell I find it hard to try and learn ANY language (I’ve tried). You could have easily said “there was a language barrier which made it hard to communicate with him.”
Say what you mean, don’t be mean when you say it.
Reminds me of a story that my one friend had told me about when her kids and her were at an arena and asked the guy who had a language barrier for a coffee crisp. He asked what she would like in it. She said "no, a coffee crisp, please" he said "yes. Yes. What do you want in it?" She ended up saying chocolate bar after the third time and the kids had their satisfying chocolate bar.
?the end
I have written and erased 6 different comments. It's not worth the spank.
PP, there is no justification for your obvious prejudice. I hope that once the defensiveness wears off you will understand why that throw away comment was such a poor choice and why so many people are disgusted by it.
I don’t usually get offended easily either, especially not on here, but that just really bothered me. Probably because not much pisses me off more than racism and I also felt it on a personal level since a lot of my family have accents including my dad.
People love feeling superior over those that speak broken English but HELLO, don’t you know how hard it is to learn another language?! You’re literally judging someone who can do something you can’t.
That's bull s*** . That comment was racist screw borderline it was racist it's what racists say to mock those who may not speak English well and I have to deal with that almost daily at work when someone in a foreign office that has a heavy accent has to transfer a caller to me because the person wants someone in the USA. Then they get on the line and go "I'm not racist I just can't stand that no speak/speaky English crap." Yup racist.
I’m still mad about this. Someone really just said there was a “no-speak-English problem” like that was an okay thing to say THEN dismissed everyone’s outrage and tried to justify her ignorance by calling it the truth.
And what’s scary is she doesn’t see a problem with what was said....
IS THIS REAL?! Pp, did you think people were going to think that was funny or cute or something and like your comment?
What bothers me is no one has to get a food handling certificate to work with food anymore, at least in az it's like this. My niece and some of her friends are getting their first jobs in fast food and the few I've talked to didn't have to take the course and one who works a Weinerschnitzel has been reprimanded multiple times for changing gloves, trying to replace the water that's been on the stove all day, cleaning the shake machine because it's a waste of time/money. Like seriously these are state standards for food handling and I'm terrified to eat out anymore. I've become the whistle blower so to speak and have been making reports to the health department cause their scared to lose their jobs but some things should be common sense, burger king has an employee that continues to handle meat and then cuts up the produce without changing gloves and another that handles the register and food when their is another worker who is supposed to bag everything up. The last time we ate out was panda express and we all ended up with some type illness, diarrhea and vomiting and not a single employee was wearing gloves and no one thought anything of it until we all got sick.
@pp, you are ignorant. You made a racial slur and don’t see why that would offend others. You could have simply said the lady didn’t speak English well and the barrier caused confusion. We would understand that and wouldn’t be upset. It’s not always what you say, it’s how you say it. ????
At the restaurant I worked at the cooks didn't wear gloves, but they didn't directly touch the food either, the only one who directly touch anything was the guy who would roll up burritos and cut them, or who would add the cheese lettuce, etc... But it wasn't anything raw so I don't know if that counts, and he was required to sanitize his hands every time he left his position... and my bosses were very strict on cleanliness soooo.....
I don’t think a grocery store meat counter is exempt from wearing gloves to grab raw meat with bare hands... he was touching the scale and packaging, as well as the glass case.
I saw a subway employee scrape mayo off a sandwich onto the edge of the trash can (the one built into the counter) and then use that same knife to cut the sandwich. Made me gag.
I’m not touching the other comment...my “socially appropriate response” filters are at an all time low today.
Ew. I had to tell a guy to change his gloves the other week. He was making a salad for me, got dressing on the side of his hand and LICKED it off, then went on to grab veggies with his saliva still freshly on the glove.
His manager was sitting right there, saw the whole exchange and didn’t say anything. Ended up leaving because if they are ok with that in front of customers, I don’t want to know what happens behind the scenes
@pp there are many restaurants and deli’s that have a special food handling license where they aren’t required to wear gloves to handle food. It isn’t against health regulations. When you become Servsafe certified, that is something that is taught and should have been on the test for certification. It varies by state, what type of food like ready to eat or not ready to eat foods, some places require utensils be used but not gloves and some require hand washing but no gloves to be used. It varies.
The manager was mortified. They tried to get me fresh bacon from the back and all, but all I can think about is, what else did he touch? Did he prep the meat bare handed? Ugh. Plus the package would be contaminated on the outside! Again, EW.
Typically people don't not even wash their hands for the right amount of time or use the right temperature. s*** some people dont use soap!!! ? washing your hands doesn't mean s*** to me.
Learn how to use and properly change gloves. I work for an infection control company and lots of germ have became "super" and immune to drugs we use. Even e-coli!!!!! Which might I add can be found in meat!
Funny you mention it, same thing happened in Wall mart yesterday, not to myself but I was walking by and a lady grabbed chicken without gloves, the man said " shouldn't you use gloves" her reply " I washed my hands". Sorry I don't care if you washed your hands ten times, don't touch my food without gloves. I had worked in the food business for years and would actually be embarrassed to touch someone food like that.
“All the time” could mean 3 hours ago. Did he pee in that time? Blow his nose? Touch the door handles? He did touch the meat scale with meat-fingers!!! That’s cross-contamination.
@babybat my husband is a kitchen manager and thinks it's gross (and most likely against company policy/health codes) that people in your kitchen don't use gloves. Oh and they should be washing their hands before and after handling any food that goes out, not just ones that "feel gross"
I posted the day before yesterday about my friend.. & well....... her fiancé came over, AND she came alone 😐 we eat sit around and after awhile my husband takes him to the back & the next thing I know he’s coming in the house with a weird look on his face, asking her if there was something he should know, I instantly gets up just in case someone turns into a maniac....... well long story short he cried & told her how disloyal she is & how disappointed he was.. she’s crying asking me why would I ...

My birth story! (It's long lol) This is my little Uriah. I can't explain how much love I feel looking at his face. The pain was completely worth it. So I was awake after watching a movie with my mom and I decided to get some food and go up to dh. After I ate my water broke because I did squats lmao!!! I did 3 squats and on the third one my water burst, that was at 2:43am, I then went down to tell my mom but didn't have any contractions yet. I got to the hospital around 4:15 and at 5 they came an...

My heart is incredibly heavy today and I'm in tears as I write this. I don't know if last night or this morning should be counted as the worst day of my life. I got a call from my hysterical mom last night around 11:30. From what I could understand through the sobbing was, my dad was in the hospital and they wouldn't let her see him. I race to her house, a LONG 45 minutes away to find SEVERAL police cars in her driveway, crime scene tape everywhere and people in paper booties and gloves walking ...

Finding out that you’re pregnant can be the happiest or scariest moment of your life. But whatever you’re feeling, it’s important to take a deep breath and acknowledge the fact that it’s completely normal. Whether it be doubt, shock, or nervousness, it’s definitely comforting to know that you’re not the only one going through it. So here’s what some of the moms from the mom.life community thought/did when they first found out they were pregnant! 👶🏻

I don’t think gabys comment was racist because I ‘think’ she was talking about his tan being orange which I think he needs to cut down on bronzer. I don’t care for trump and I hardly watch what he does unless he’s on the world news so I don’t really know what his tan is like today lol..
And having a racist man in power is showing the racist people that’s it’s okay to finally say what they feel.
Yes, racism has always been around and it’s unfortunate that people can’t look past the outside of people. Pp is not saying it’s never existed and isn’t blaming trump for racism as a whole. She’s putting blame on him for showing people that it’s okay to be that way and him being the potus is was makes it worse.
I’ve seen it first hand with my entire family of inlaws being Muslim. It was never this bad before trump was running for potus (for them). Speaking about someone’s tan rather than his actual skin color is not being racist. Anyone can be orange by a bad tan and too much much bronzer.
