DESPERATE!!
Please ladies if any of you have tips for giving kids medicine it would he much appreciated. Andrew is on 5 different medicines this week after his surgery mostly all 5ml at a time and it works out that he is having to take medicine about 5 times a day and its literally a teeth and bone fight with him every time and it ends up with us both in tears after a half an hour battle. Iv tried just using the syringe. Iv tried a spoon. Iv tried one spoon medicine yoghurt and one medicine and every time its horrific.

Sometimes when we give Bear Calpol he tries to fight it so one of us distracts him and the other uses the syringe to squirt it in his mouth.. one of our mobiles is normally a good distraction. Good luck xx

Will he take a dummy. Boots sell a dentinox one which you can put medicine in x

Mix it with a drink?
Them dummies are good x

The dummies sound good. We have been told not to mix it with a drink as we need to know hes had the right dosage of antibiotics pain relief and his medicine for bladder spasms xx

I used to give Harry an empty syringe to hold and he 'gives himself the medicine'. As he opened his mouth then I would squirt the other full one in x

Are you allowed to actually mix it in with the yoghurt?

Sorry. None. My son loves getting medicine. Gets excited then.

My 2 yr old just finished a course of antibiotics but was only 3 times a day. I just held him and squeezed his cheeks together, tilting his head back a tiny bit, squirted it in his mouth & then popped his dummy in. If he has a dummy pretend your giving him that then quickly squirt it in x

I used to get a yoghurt and pretend to put the spoon in his mouth then squrt it in there lol worked for me x

Sounds quite evil but try making him laugh when he opens his mouth quickly squirt it in and tickle his neck or cheeks so he feels the need to swallow.. That's how we do it for my LG when she decides she won't have it xx

We've just been in hospital with my 8 month old daughter with a really nasty urine infection. She hated the antibiotics but unfortunately sometimes you have to be cruel to be kind. I held her down squeezed her cheeks together and squirted it bit by bit into the back corner of her mouth. No other tips I'm afraid but if he needs it he needs it x
