Put on 2kgs in the first 12weeks ?

So I just got weighed in my docs office and I’ve put on 2kgs in the last 12weeks and I cried in the docs office. My doc understands where I’m coming from cos she’s helped me with my weight loss journey but told me it’s all the baby more than likely and a little of my own put on. Now I know that’s not horrible but for me who’s struggled with weight my whole life and prior to falling pregnant I lost 22kgs in 4 & 1/2 months I was feeling great and was determined to be a healthy size. Then falling pregnant and now putting it back on slowly is just getting me down a bit. I know it shouldn’t cos it’s all for baby. I just can’t shake the feeling I’m failing myself cos I’m putting weight on? Why am I feeling this? Help this Mamma stop being silly please!!!!

With my first (and only baby) I gained 40 lbs and lost it all plus a few extra by the time he was 1. I didn’t exercise much at all and ate whatever sounded good. What helped was breastfeeding. That burns a ton of calories. Now clearly i didn’t breast feed for that reason, but it’s natures way of helping moms get back to their normal set point. Sounds like you are doing great. Just trust your body knows what it’s doing and try to listen to it’s cues- eating when your hungry and stopping when you’re full -intuitive eating!

Thank you Mammas. I’ve always struggled with my weight and just seeing those numbers yesterday hit me a bit hard. Can’t wait for the second trimester to start and I can start eating less carbs cos it’s all I can stomach atm.

Much love to you all ❤️

I’ve probably gained the same. I haven’t weighed myself since my first appointment and the dr doesn’t weigh me again unless he has concerns. I’ve struggled with my weight too and I lost 30lbs just before I got pregnant with my son and I ended up gaining 60lbs during my pregnancy. I lost 20 after he was born and never lost any more than that. I definitely can’t afford to gain like I did last time so I’m just trying to make sure I’m eating good foods and getting as much exercise as I physically can. It’ll be easier as I get into the 2nd trimester. Try not to stress over your weight... gaining is healthy during pregnancy you just need to make sure you’re gaining for the right reasons and not because you’re eating too much junk food which was the case for my first pregnancy

We gained the same amount, and I’m also 12 weeks.

It’s going to be hard, but right now it’s all going to baby. If it helps don’t weigh yourself. I don’t weigh myself, because I know I would panic. I only know I gained 4 pounds because of going to the drs. I just try to eat healthy, but I do allow myself to have some snacks.

Don't worry That's not a lot of weight. I've gained 5 pounds in the last 12 weeks. My last pregnancy I gained 47 pounds and 2 weeks after baby I lost 25 of those pounds. The weight will come off pretty quickly. And before you know it you'll be back to what you were pre pregnancy.
