I grew up not celebrating because of what my parents read in the bible. I mainly don't celebrate because I don't personally like the idea of a man coming into my home to leave presents for my child one day lol.
I know what you mean especially the while "sit on santa" thing. I just don't like the idea of it. I have a different religion :) I used to celebrate Christmas so a piece of me is still a little sad but Christmas was never religious to me, or my family. It was always spending time with one another, family dinner and of course presents.
I've never celebrated, my dh has and his whole family got together without our knowledge, I believe out of respect for me, but I found it rude for dh to not be invited.
Our little one isn't born yet but I wouldn't feel comfortable with putting my child on some mans lap and telling him that he's being watched all year by this man lol. Especially if there is supposed to be a religious aspect to it I don't see a reason for Santa when they already have Christ to watch them. If that makes sense to anyone.

We're not religious either, we celebrate simply to be with and enjoy one another.

This is for the ones that don't celebrate at all not just for religious reasons, my reasons aren't religious.
