Just freely roaming the streets and staying out all day until it got dark. This was 3rd grade I'm talking. 1989. We would cruise the streets on our bikes listening to our pocket rocker. I wouldn't get home till 8 or 9 at night in the summer. It was awesome!! Can you imagine that now? They'd call dyfs these days. On school nights my 'alarm' was the 5 o'clock fire whistle in town. Sometimes I'd be too far to hear it and get grounded for coming home late. No cell phones, no tracking your child. Just trust in them and society. Sad how much has changed.
Not being able to FF through commercials. Our two year old strokes out if a commercial interrupts his dinosaur show. I find myself saying “when mommy was little....” lol!!
Omg Jen yes with the street lights and riding bikes. I grew up in a beach town so as a grade schooler/ middle schooler it was bikes. Then end of middle school into high school it was rollerblading the boardwalk for miles! We were always at the beach without our parents! Never had an issue. I just can't imagine letting Jude do that. Sigh ?.
Amanda pogs omg haven't heard that in forever. And I definitely watched TGIF with Family Matters?. And Mary tomagachis! I still have mine ??
Stilts, running through the sprinkler, slip n slides , playing with my Walkman, climbing trees, playing with Gak, roller blading at the roller rink , riding my bike around our neighborhood with other neighborhood kids (unsupervised), using sidewalk chalk to make "roads" etc, in our driveway and taking a skateboard to drive as the car lol, easy bake oven, playing "lava", playing the Nintendo with my older brother (esp. Mario brothers!)..
