Diapers arent a gift for baby?

My dd is almost 3 months old and I still haven't had to purchase diapers or wipes due to the amount received at my shower. I thought that was an excellent gift.

I don't really see it as a gift simply because it's something I would buy without a second thought.

I'd rather receive something other than diapers for my baby but I would accept anything given.

We had a diaper shower !! Mostly my husbands friends it was a huge BAbyQ everyone brought diapers / wipes any size and we revealed the gender...this was totally different from a baby shower mostly for my husband and his friends ....

For my second baby my coworkers threw me a shower and I only asked for diapers and wipes...so yeah it's totally a gift for baby.

Wouldn't an outfit be the same as diapers then? I mean Idk a baby that cares about outfits neither but they still need them ?

I do see where she's coming from about the fun gift thing, but diapers are the best! When I had my twins that is basically all I wanted from people, diapers and wipes LOL. I used so very many of them that it even amazed me that my huge stash that I built up before they were born of all various sizes was gone in no time ?

I think they are the perfect gift for baby since they actually get used

I do see where's she coming from. She wants to give a gift that can be used for fun. That's like saying toilet paper is a gift. Sure it can be a gift but it's not a fun gift.

I would totally appreciate getting diapers don't get me wrong but buying diapers isn't the funnest gift to give...if that's what she's looking for.

What more does a baby need and use than diapers LoL?! I always give diapers and wipes as a baby gift because it's one of the few things a baby truly needs.

I'll take diapers any day over clothes and shoes! Diapers are expensive!

With two in diapers yes they are the perfect gift. There is actually a rule in my family for baby showers. If you are only bringing one gift make it diapers lol

My friend has 3 under 3. When I ask what to get for birthdays: diapers and wipes. Always.

And I always oblige. They don't need 5,000 toys or 10,000 items of clothes. The people who don't ask will always get those. I'd rather buy something they NEED.

I do, usually, throw in a small fun item. To her though, it's more about having wha they need. That allows them to do fun things with their kids with the extra $.

Yep they are most certainly a gift! We got several packs of diapers when she was born! It's a very much appreciated and useful gift!

I even wrote them down in her baby book under gifts received.

I think diapers are more of a gift than clothes. Babies don't get excited for clothes either. And a baby could probably feel fine in the summer with no clothes (I know my kid prefers to go without) but I don't know any baby who would prefer to not have a fresh diaper.

I would just say baby has everything they need but if you'd like to get something diapers would be great.

@chickadee I think that what her logic was. Like diapers are a necessity not a "gift". LMAO. I probably should have mentioned shes the kind of gift giver that absolutely refuses to give a gift card and doesnt consider that a "present" either.

Yes their a gift for the baby!! That's who's wearing them. My sister just had a baby about 2 weeks ago and I got him a few outfits and a pack of diapers. My sister was very grateful for them!!!

Ha! I'm actually thinking of throwing a mini party for diapers. A diaper shower to be exact. I'm having another boy so I don't need anything else for him but diapers would be great! Lol

Diapers are absolutely a baby gift. The parents aren't the ones using them, the baby is. She's silly.
