Sorry for the TMI, this goes with my previous post, but is this more vomiting than normal spitting up? This is why i think he has reflux. He does this at least 1-2 times a day. He gags, coughs, then a fountain of formula comes out. The only weird part is he isn't upset, he acts like nothing happened. Any advice for me at his Drs? I don't want it to seem like I'm overreacting.

Heading to the Drs in an hour. I can't thank you ladies enough for all your input. It's helping me cause I feel better going into the appointment with a few different options and not just at the mercy of the Dr. I know I've said it before but I'll never stop saying it.. this is one of the best groups of women I have ever met.

My first son had this exact same problem. Projectile vomiting.. Took him to the er and he was diagnosed with pyloric stenosis. He had a laparoscopic surgery to fix his pylorus and he is a suuuuper healthy 2 year old now

I'd try a level down for your little one on the mam nipples if you can! It will force the baby to slow down. Mine doesn't love the premie nipple on the doctor browns, but it honestly fixed the throwing up issue because she was eating way too fast and that flow also helped with some breastfeeding issues. She was having trouble going back and forth because the formula she could just gobble down and she liked it better. I'd either try that or paced feeding with burping every ounce or two.

When I eat a lot my stomach hurts and it gives me gas. I really just think it's over eating. Bottles poor the food in.

If he's spitting up like that sounds like it's just over eating. It's easy to over eat with a bottle.

My first would vomit like that when he was breastfeeding and I had engorment he was getting to much milk for his little belly. My milk leveled out way faster this baby and I didn't have anything like that this time, but he did do this tonight after he ate because he pushed so hard trying to poop lmao. So I don't know much about formula feeding but maybe he's getting too much

He's formula fed.

My son did exactly that until I cut coffee. Sadly for my mental health, it stopped when I did. Not saying it's that or even food you're eating. But it's worth exploring.

Yup he's formula fed. He's been on Enfamil since birth (WIC). That's why I'm so confused cause it just started happening out of the blue. We haven't switched a single thing. Hubby thinks it may n overeating as well. But Im prepared for the Drs tomorrow. I have pictures as well as a video of him 20 minutes after a feeding (non- vomit feeding) showing definite signs of gas discomfort. So I'm hoping it's an easy fix.

Oh and not long after the feed he wanted a top off (1/2 oz) and has been perfectly fine and sleeping soundly for the first time all day, so yea, Im at a loss. I swear this boy is gonna make me age 10 years in a week lol. My oldest was a sickly baby but we at least knew what was wrong. I hate the not knowing.

Is it formula? Maybe just the kind it is. Similac has a 'spit up' formula unnoticed at buy buy baby yesterday. Maybe worth a shot. Poor baby! Hope you can figure something out.

My pediatrician told us that projectile bomiting can be a sign of over eating. Try pace feeding and looking for his cues to know when he is finished.

@cb. He's using Mam with size 2. He's been using them for 3 weeks, this just started at the end of last week. We're limited to bottles due to a lip tie. It's the only one he'll take.

@lf. He eats 4-5oz every 3.5-4 hrs. and he takes about 45 minutes to eat with pace feeding. Again same as 3 weeks ago and we burp every 1/2 ounce. Lol, so you see why I'm at an absolute loss. He also sleeps reclined and sits up for 20-30 minutes after eating. So yea.. at a total loss lol.

How much is he eating when this happens. Maybe try to space the meal out. Look up 'paced feeding' and maybe give that a shot. Also are you burping enough? We thought we were now we burp almost every half ounce and really really good at the end of a feeding.

What kind of bottle are you using? My little one was vomiting like this with the doctor browns bottles. I realized the nipple was too big, I went from the size one to the premie and she hasn't done it again. I also took a couple other steps, because she will still gag even when she's breastfeeding and cough and so now I burp her halfway through formula or breastfeeding and that helps some. I'd definitely talk to your doctor, they are usually a little more willing to listen when they see it's not just a little bit of spit up. If baby is arching back, coughing, gagging.. explain all of that because those are definitely signs of reflux!

My first had the same issue and Dr said it was reflux and that it's normal specially for preemies (he was 10 weeks early). He prescribed a medication but unfortunately I don't remember what was it.

Don't worry mama it will pass.

My daughter would do this and it turned out she had a milk allergy. We had to put her on Enfamil Nutramigen. Took her colic away and she didnt vomit anywhere as much she did before

I would be concerned too. My son has done this a couple times, once last night when he had an upset stomach. He was up from 11:45 pm until 4 am, ate, threw up on me, and finally went to sleep once he pooped. It may be normal, but I would still talk to your doctor.

@Shari yes, it's on his arm, the pillow and bed. Here's the lis we are bringing up to the Dr. Which after hearing from you ladies I am thinking it may be overeating

1-2 times a day (Usually in the evening)

Out of Mouth and nose

Forceful/Fountain-like

No pain, doesn't act different

Warning signs before it happens: coughing, chokey breathing, sometimes gagging.

1-3 fountain episodes at a time

Only happens during feeding

Fussy/gassy during the day

Is that also vomit on your husbands arm? To me it seems like a lot and especially if he's doing it often. But like the girls said, maybe he drinks too much...Maybe it's nothing and normal? It wouldn't hurt to bring it up to your doctor.

Ok, I feel a little better. I just think his fussiness is getting to me causing me to worry. Hopefully my Dr will it's normal. My older son had GERD and that was a nightmare.

One thing I learned from our pediatrician is when a baby vomits it's totally different than if an adult does. It actually makes them feel better instead of worse. My son does this if we don't burp him well enough. Maybe try burping longer or more often?

Same thing for my son but he is EBF. Tons of vomit but he isn't bothered by it. Dr told me all that he was throwing up wasn't needed. He is just a pig and likes to eat he said.

Adding, I had my phone in my hand.. I didn't make him sit in it for a photo.

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?
