Cats on my tree! My cats won't leave our tree alone. I've moved all the ornaments up, but every morning there are still…

I saw a picture today with cats that said "oh Christmas tree, oh Christmas tree, all your ornaments are history." ??

I'm going to get a water bottle tomorrow to spray them with. Our downstairs is an open floor plan so they would have to sleep in either our room or the kids rooms but that doesn't work because they're nocturnal and play all night.

I tried to play with them a lot today and tire them out. I hope that worked.

Water bottle. Is there another room they can sleep in at night so they're not getting into it while you're asleep? I've always used water bottles as a deterrent, even for my dogs. Works like a charm and it's harmless.

Lol reminds me of ones of my moms cats. She never did anything, just climbed the tree and fell asleep. One year she had kittens under the tree so we had to leave it up ?

Cayan pepper either sprinkled on the tree or around the base. That works on some cats.

Orange oil sprinkled on the tree works on some cats.

Some cats hate peppermint oil.

Orange oil worked with our cats. I mixed it and sprayed the tree and the tree skirt.

I'm going to try the water bottle, I really hope that deters them.

Spray them with a water spray bottle. Didn't take long before mine got the hint

I have a water bottle handy, and spray them when they start to get too close to the tree.

My cats do the same thing, we have to tie our Christmas tree to the window with nails so it doesn't get knocked down.

I put a pick up of my cats, I'm going to try and catch them in the tree though. They look so innocent but they are sooo sneaky.

@pp our dogs sleep in the room with us because the cats stay up all night and keep everyone else awake.

They also leave huge gaps in the tree I keep finding branches hanging down in the row below it.

I'm not sure how effective a gate will be because they can just jump over it.

With our cats when they were little we just had to bring them in the room with us at night. And had a spray bottle on hand during the day to spray them when they'd go near it lol. They learned fast.

I jut bought an octagonal gate. Hopefully it will help. We will be putting up a real one this weekend. When I had a fake tree, my cat climbed to the top and separated all the branches on his way up. Cats are a'sholes lol

No help because my cat ruined our tree last year. She wouldn't leave it alone. She knocked all the ornaments off that she could reach.

Omg I'm so sorry but I'm laughing pretty hard at time. Just imagining your cats sitting in your Christmas tree is hilarious to me!!! Sorry to laugh I'm sure it's very frustrating. Do u have like an octagon gate that u may be able to put around it? I know they are cats and could probably jump over it but it's just a suggestion. Maybe moving all ornaments to the upper branches too could help? Is the tree blocking their favorite window or something they are trying to get to? That was just another thought I had? Sorry I don't think I am much help lol
