I'm going to get the "angel monitor", it has a camera, and a pad that goes under neath the sheet. If baby stops breathing, an alarm will go off. My cousin died of sids. I'm getting this monitor no matter what! They sell it on Amazon.com

Follow the guidelines to keep the baby as safe as possible, there's not much else you can do.

Have you looked into twin bassinets

Babies breathing is actually regulated by the mothers at first, so the thought is that a baby might stop breathing but it's body restarts because the mother is breathing close to them. Second they don't sleep as deeply they say, when they are Co sleeping or can see/hear other people. Third you may wake up and notice if the baby has stooped breathing if they are in your bed/room. Can you put a pack n play in your room, babies can sleep in the same bed, so if anything i would put them in the same bed and that should be as good as them being in your room. Also, they say a fan on in the room, not to warm dressed and the biggest thing to prevent SIDS is actaully breast feeding.

Nothing you do will stop a child from dying of SIDS. It is something that is an underlying problem in the child after birth. No matter where you put your kid it can happen with out you knowing or being able to prevent it

My baby brother.died.from sids at 2 months old . Asleep in his car seat.. when a baby breathes out carbon monoxide it can get trapped in small.spaces..

Thank you evera, I plan on them being together but at opposite ends. So they will sleep the same way a singleton is recommended. Feet at the bottom blankets tucked all the way round. I want them to be able to sense each other without being a danger. I have two cots set up already and they are end to end so once they are too big to be together they will still be feet to feet so still close.

I worked in child welfare and we had a case of twins where one died of SIDS due to sleeping in the crib together one asphyxiated the other they were less than a month old... The mom was sleeping in the same room... SIDS is not something you'd hear and wake up, Be very careful I would look into a divider of some sort or as previously mentioned a breathing monitor

My son slept in his crib in his own room very early. I believe at 3 weeks. Because I could not get any sleep with all the little sounds he made. He is now 3 years old. My daughter sleeps in a crib in our room because I cant trust my 3 year old to be alone with her for more than 2 min. He is very loving and smothers her. She is now 7 months and since my sister moved out she will move into her room a few weeks before this baby arrives and this little one will sleep in the crib next to my bed. I don't know if co sleeping reduces SIDS or not but this was my experience with my babies.

I was also told giving a baby a binki helps reduce SIDS but a nurse told me that that study was proven false. My son never took a binki but my daughter loves it.

I would also suggest the monitor pads that detect breathing, however, I'm not sure how well it would work for twins. Also, some babies die from SIDS because their face gets too close to something (even just the mattress) and the carbon dioxide gets trapped in front of their face. To help with that it is suggested you keep a fan on in the room your baby is in to help keep the air circulating.

honestly for the first month or so my daughter i would put in a bouncer. i was always worried. she slept next to my bed and i always check maybe every half hour to an hour to make sure shes breathing. im gonna do that with this baby too.

I purchased a mat for my brother when he had his first son. It would detect the baby's breathing and alarm would sound if the baby stopped breathing. Here it is. Maybe this will help: ссылка

Try the monitor that has the breathing sensor mat ... but just remember you aren't the one that fails ..whatever happens to any of us or our children is not our fault and you need to have faith In yourself be strong mummy. X

I don't want to fail before I begin

I work in EMS and I have been on SIDS calls. They are the worst. I always feel like I'm the parent going through it too. But the one thing I can say is I have seen them happen in their own rooms and when they are in the parents rooms or by their side in a bassinet next to moms bed. It a scary horrible thing a parent goes through. I did read a recent article that they have found a correlation in infants that suffer from SIDS is that they are finding most infants have an under developed cerebellum. Sorry I don't have the link to the article I will look for it and post when I find. My suggestion and what I do. Is read the safety warning on everything that the baby comes in contact with baby and follow and then relax as best as possible and enjoy you baby.

I have heard it is because even in your sleep you notice if they would stop breathing, but I don't know any specific data on that. I feel like with twins you will be in there so often you couldn't miss anything anyway!

My mom lost her first son to sids when he was 1 month old so when she had me later on she bought a breathing monitor that strapped around my chest and an alarm would go off if it couldn't detect breathing. She did have a scare with it when it got loose, but they are probably better now. Also recommend a video monitor and a pillow wedge to keep them propped up.

I have to do training on sids for work as I am a teacher at a daycare. In the training they state that it is proven when a mother sleeps in the same room with her infant their breathing and heart rate sync! They breathe the same. Just like when baby was in your tummy. So momma and baby neither go into a deep deep sleep . Both are still getting a restful sleep but if baby stops breathing or is having trouble mom wakes instantly. I can see how having both infants in your room can be tight and hard to do! There are many other things that can help reduce sids so you might focus on those if you are not able to sleep next to your babys. Sids most often occurs around 4-6 weeks of age I believe, so being careful around that time and making sure there are no toys, pillows or blankets in the crib will help! Your the momma and you know whats best for your babies so trust yourself :-)

Yes it's because you will be more likely to notice if they stop breathing and be able to respond in time to save their life.

I don't know the answer for sure but I assume its because you can watch them more closely if they are right beside you. If you hear any noises you are able to jump up to respond faster. That's just my guess, but I still fear for my daughter she's almost 2 and has been laying in hee own room for almost a year
