I went to go see her earlier. She is ok. She's stable and vitals are still good. Her throat is sore from when the breathing tube was. When I left her doctor was putting in the Papers to move her from the ICU to her room :)

Thank you ladies. I'll be visiting tomorrow. Hopefully she'll be more awake when I see her.

Oh goodness that doesn't look good at all. I hope she has a successful surgery and quick recovery! I haven't read the comments but make sure she knows to take it very easy, I know her surgeon will warn her, but the risk of complications can be high with hernial surgeries like this for developing other hernias. No straining or lifting!

Oh hun I just want to give you a big hug.

I know the feeling of your mum being in surgery. When my mum went in for open heart surgery I was a complete and utter mess. Seeing mum with a breathing tube in heavily sedated in icu really scared me. I witnessed her waking up and almost panicking as well and I had to inform the nurses so they kept having to sedate her.

Prayers for ur mama

Moms nurse said she's going into ICU Because she's having breathing problems. And not getting enough oxygen. So they have a tube in. But the surgery went fine. That was at 4:30pm. I just called and she is now in ICU. She's heavily sedated because when she woke up she started panicking about the breathing tube. So they're trying to help her wake up slowly. She is stable. And vital signs are great.

I thought I knew what a hiatal hernia was and I was really confused by the x ray.

Wow. I really hope surgery goes well. That's an insane presentation. Prayers for your mom

Yes. She needs to take it easy. She knows that. It is pretty major surgery. I'm hoping to hear from her soon

My Oh had the surgery two weeks after DD was born.

It's major surgery and please don't let her lift anything or do anything for the recommended 6 weeks. Not even a kettle for a week.

OH didn't listen and he ended up with further surgery to correct hernias from the key hole sites and needs it again as he's too stubborn to do as told. He has to avoid stomach bugs as the version he's had he now can't be sick and if he gets the sickness bugs he ends up in pain and poorly as the bugs can't come out.

Good luck and the horrid pain and heartburn she's had will be gone. In a few weeks she'll feel amazing

They asked her if she would sign a release for her x rays and cat scans so they could be put in textbooks for teaching purposes. She's like I'll kinda be famous ?

We had a patient like that before I went on leave, tried doing it with the robot but we had to open. Positive thoughts for your mom!

My mom is in surgery. she has a hiatal hernia. It's not how it normally happens though. Usually it's only a little bit of the stomach that comes up through the diaphragm. The doctors had never seen anything like this before. Half her stomach is up behind her lungs and heart. It is serious surgery but a very common one. I am still nervous that something can go wrong.
