Please help, feeling crazy.
Please help, feeling crazy.
(Long sorry) I take buspirone for anxiety sp? I don't really feel it's helping. I'm going to start taking zoloft and plan to talk to my doc about this. Since ds was born I have been having the same awful nightmare almost every night. And sometimes more than one time in a night. And on top of being awake for the night feedings I am so scared to sleep because of this.

Your second little one is very new, right? I had horribly graphic, violent nightmares when my son was born, and I was so scared. I thought I had PPD, I started avoiding sleep (which I was already scarcely getting) because the dreams were so disturbing, etc. My midwife told me she thought I was having the issues due to sleep deprivation, not PPD. A friend came over and helped with DS overnight so I could get a good night of sleep, and just like that the nightmares stopped.
I don't know that it has anything to do with your situation, but I know sleep deprivation can mirror PPD. But of course, PPD can cause sleep deprivation. Either way, I'm sorry you're going through this. I started taking Zoloft a few years ago for about a year, and I definitely found it helped my anxiety, which was a bonus since I was originally prescribed it for depression. I hope things get better for you too.

Yes he is almost 3 weeks old. Dh has taken over for night feedings and I still wake up from these awful nightmares. Dh even offers to let me nap during the day when he is off work. I don't really have anyone to come watch the kids. I will be starting the Zoloft next week. I know it treats anxiety too so hopefully it helps. It's just my nightmares are so graphic and disturbing it makes me almost sick to my stomach.

I tried that medication about 13 years ago. The sole reason I stopped taking it was the hellish nightmares. I would dream about planes crashing- people being ripped in half as the plane was obliterated. I won't give any more examples but they were all equally as terrifying.
I would fine a new med asap.
I control my stress and anxiety with exercise now. I couldn't handle the side effects of the drugs

Buspirone jacked me up as well. I didn't have nightmares but I was up 24/7 for no reason. I couldn't keep my head from bobbing, so I looked doped up all the time. It made my heart pound. I was living with my grandma at the time and she hated me on it because it was such a scary sight.
I don't know if this is true or not, but a friend of mine told me that buspirone is for something the size of a horse and is not safe for people.
If you haven't researched or tried lexapro (sp), I highly suggest it. It worked wonders for me. It treats depression and/or anxiety.

Cams I'm so sorry that must've been awful. I've been taking the buspirone for a couple months now but just started having the nightmares. I don't know if it's from that or sleep deprivation. I haven't stared the Zoloft yet so it's not because of that. Hope fully it helps.

I hope you find something that works. ??

I had this issue with cymbalta a while back. I had the most awful nightmares when I was taking it and I'd find myself daydreaming and zoning out and my mind would go to the same scenarios. It was weird because I was super detached. Like watching a horror movie I was part of. I switched meds and luckily left the job that was causing all the problems and I've been meds free for a few years now.

Misspigs that's crazy. I was prescribed a really low dose of Xanax during both pregnancies. When I switched doctors due to moving the midwife freaked out and said we don't prescribe that here and switched me to buspirone. The Xanax wasn't my favorite and a lot of the time made me sick but it did help with my panic attacks.

How long have you been on the Buspar?
Thisisfeeney·
For about 2 1/2 months pp. but these dreams started after I got home from the hospital almost 3 weeks ago

Oh dang. It usually take about 6-8 weeks to have any effect, sounds like your side effects started right around that time. Wouldn't hurt to switch to something different

Yeah I'm going to try Zoloft. It can also treat anxiety so I'm hoping it helps.
