Have you heard of natural family planning? It's super easy and very inexpensive. Plus, you aren't going to get any chemicals or bad side effects.

I tried natural family planning but failed! I'm 23w pregnant with number 3. My dd2 was 15m when I got pregnant and I was EBF still but I was getting my period regularly. My husband is going to get a vasectomy...so he says. And if something happens down the line it can be reversed but we have 2 girls and having a boy I told him Mama is done!!! ?

I have kind of heard of it. I don't know the ins and outs of it though. I'm just worried because my first we used a condom and it did not break. (I know still not full proof) and my second I was on the pill. So either I'm extremely fertile, dh has some good swimmers or both. I've also recently thought about being a surrogate in the future.

Nfp can be tricky and not work great for everyone. You can try an iud, or the arm implant. Depo is also an option but if you plan on ever having kids again be aware it can take a long time to straighten out after stopping.

What's the difference between iud and implant.

IUD goes into your cervix. Implant is in your arm. I think how long they last varies also. I think implants is 3 years.

Nexplanon - implant is now good for 4 years it used to be 3 but they changed it. Side effects ive expierenced is my period and spotting unconsistent. And the one ive heard alot about that i expiernce as well are head aches here and there.

I had iud and I liked it. My husband said he could feel it but the dr said he wouldn't be able to. This go around I'm getting it n not telling him cus I think because he knew it was in his mind.

It depends on the brand. I'm not sure. But the arm implant is called Nexplanon if you want to look it up. The iud has several brands including a copper one that doesn't use any hormones at all. Mirena is the only one I can think of right now lol.

I love my depo shot! I've been on and off of it the majority of my post-pubescent life. My periods are NASTY! Cramps that disable me for days, so much blood I become very anemic, I turn into Satan himself...it's bad. I can't take a pill regularly to save my life so they put me on it as a teen. I've come off twice, had two kids. Back on it. Osteoporosis is a danger for long term use so I have to keep adequate calcium in my diet. But I don't have periods on it. Between it, pregnancy, and bfing, I've had maybe 25 periods in my whole life and I'm in my 30s. Only downside is when I came off to ttc dd, it took almost a year to get my period back then another 3 months to conceive.

Oh my God Mandy is the reason we need a national requirement for comprehensive sex education. I've never wanted to facepalm so hard.

In case you didn't know this op and pay attention here Mandy as well, you may learn something. Birth controls, including the iud, do not cause "chemical abortions". They do 3 things mainly. 1. They prevent ovulation from happening in the first place. 2. They prevent the sperm from reaching an egg if one is ovulated by thickening the cervical mucus and making it a very harsh place for sperm to swim and 3. If all else fails and there is a meeting between sperm and egg because the hormones for some reason aren't doing their jobs, they keep the uterine lining thin so there is nothing to implant on.

Also, I just got the IUD on the 1st. I have a follow up appt on Wednesday. It's over 99% effective, the only thing more effective is sterilization. I got the hormonal one (Mirena) and it lasts 5 years and after 5 years, they can insert another one if needed and it can be taken out at any time and 80-85% of women who take it out get pregnant within the first 12 months of trying so you're fertile as soon as you get a period again (if they stop. Most women notice very light or no period). I've currently experienced no negative side effects other than the initial spotting. Some women can spot for up to 3 or 4 months. It's not a lot and I can get away with just a panty liner there's not a lot.

There's also the copper IUD which isn't as effective as hormonal but still well up there in effectiveness. It's a 10 year birth control option but I've heard periods can intensify with those, it really depends. That's nonhormonal in case you have issues with artifical hormones introduced in your body.

I love my Mirena so far. I love the get it and forget it. I'd recommend an iud, whether hormonal or non hormonal

Eta: my doctor clipped the strings a little long in case there are any issues the first few weeks and it just makes it a little easier to remove if needed and she said she'd trim them at the follow up if they could be felt but the person I'm sleeping with said he couldn't feel them so it should be good

Thank you @serious I definitely think I'm going with the iud. Probably mirena. Ya I'm just not in a place right now to have another. My first was a condom baby. I want the best thing next to sterilization.
