It'll be decorative until he's old enough for a blanket. After that, I'd like for him to get a couple of years use out of it which is why I'm making him one. I haven't found a crib set yet in stores with a reasonable blanket in it.
I think I'll give it a try with the batting and see how it goes. I was looking at some really thin ones in the store.
I've also been considering since this will be the larger "comforter" blanket making a much smaller one as the baby blanket. I'm still a beginner sewer and I just don't want to bite off more than I can chew. ?
We used batting in ours, but it's not a really heavy fabric. I guess it just depends on how much "warmth" you want from the blanket. Is it just decorative?
