So, things didn't work out living at my mother's house, so dd and I have moved into SO'S family's house. His family is lovely, but, There are 9 of us in a 4 bedroom house and I am going crazy. There's no space and no privacy. Half of dd's things are stuffed in the hall closet and most of my clothes are still at my mom's because there's just no room.

I figure it would only be your name o the mortgage then. If you did it that way? I don't think he would be able to be on it.

I think both you need a ss#, why does he not have a ss#? Is he not a U.S. Citizen yet?

He won't be on the title if he doesn't have proper documentation. Does he at least have a driver's license or passport? They need some kind of verification that he exists lol

Huh? How does he not have an SS#? Is he an illegal, or legally in the US? I've heard that affects anything credit related. You are going to have to apply in your name only for a loan. I don't think you can claim his income unless you are legally married or domestic partners.

The loan would have to be in your name, his name couldn't be on it at all without a ss#. They would not count his income at all so you would have to make enough to qualify on your income alone.

Maybe he can apply for and ITIN on the IRS website. They would assign him an identification number which may help with the loan process.

He has an ITIN#, he's been here for 11 years and pays taxes

People can purchase homes with an ITIN number, and like you said he pays taxes which is documentation they ask for so your on track. If he didn't have a number then it would be all in you to provide income proof to put a house on your name OP.

If he happens to know how to fix up homes you may want to look at what is on auction in your area.

Our mortgage will be in DHs name. They ran both our credits and his alone is better

You should be working with a mortgage person, they'll be able to walk you through this process

To buy a home with an itin number you have to be employed at least 2 years, have a work visa or be in the immigration process, and find a lender who does those types of loans. You also have to have a down payment
