Mediastinal Mass biopsy
Has anyone ever been through this? My SO has a mediastinal mass and his doctor just referred us to a cardiothoracic surgeon for a biopsy. His appt is the 22nd. It’s 6 1/2 cm big.
Thanks yaya. I still don’t know what to do, since we still don’t have answers. I know once we figure out what it is it will be easier to figure everything out. I’m being positive. But my SO is having a hard time after the appointment. It’s kinda hard not to freak out when a cardiothoracic surgeon is telling you what the possibilities are. His PA wouldn’t even talk about it. Then they made light of it by saying that he’s taken out masses as huge as a woman’s chest cavity. I don’t think that helped.
Thank you! We are kinda still where we were before the appointment. Next step is a ctscan with a biopsy needle, scrotal ultra sound and he might want to do a pet scan. Because he has 5 lumps we can feel and the mass in his chest. But we are waiting for the call to schedule both of those. I had no idea testicular cancer can form in the chest (scrotal ultra sound).... they keep saying they don’t want to say anything to freak us out. The then through out testicular cancer, lymphoma, Hodgkins, non Hodgkins, germ cell mass. The only way to get out of a surgery will be if it’s lymphoma. Because they would treat that with chemo and/or radiation.
Thank you. I’ve tried not to google. But I want to learn more about the possibilities. My SO said he’s a wreck this morning. All I could say was ‘everything is going to be ok. we don’t have time to be a wreck we just gotta do what we gotta do to get through this day’. He converted cm to in and now knows it as 2.5 in instead of 6.5 cm. He even watched a biopsy. I told him he shouldn’t watch anything.
How am I going to keep his mind off of this until his appointment in 2 weeks?
I'm sorry i have no idea but we went through a cancer scare last year actually getting a diagnosis and then it was later determined not to be just stay strong and try to be calm for him and don't GOOGLE just wait until you have all the facts i know it's hard but its rally what's best for your sanity
good luck!!
@not I’m not sure yet. I’ll be looking more into that.
Well that helps me. I’m trying to be positive and not freak out, but he’s stressing and freaking out. They are doing more blood work and said we might have a better idea of what’s going on even before the biopsy.
I just don’t know what to say to ease his mind for now. I’ll tell him what you said. I keep saying everything will be ok and we will get through whatever this is.
I guess I should add his lymph nodes in right arm and right nipple are hard too. The mass is close to his heart.
Biopsy is today!
We are at the hospital and in about an hour my SO will have his biopsy. They are going through the chest, puncturing his right lung front and back to get to the mass. It is right next to his heart and they need to be careful not to puncture it (that’s how close) . I am praying it goes great and we get to go home after the procedure. But the doc said it’s possible we will stay the night. He had a scrotal ultra sound he said that was the worst part out of this whole thing so far...
Has anyone had an endometrial biopsy done? Was it painful? I’m getting one on Tuesday.

Is this chicken pox?
He has eczema on his shoulders, but the rash on his back is different, appeared last night and he now has some on his neck and chest too.
Help!
