Thank you!

And I just want to help them. I don't want to create hostility in my home. Children can feel it. And I don't want DD in any crossfire. I will wait to talk to them about it all once the little guy goes home. I want them to understand that things like that are reason for his mom to keep him from coming over.

If I wasn't upstairs and off running errands. What if he got curious and played with my gas stove. Or left the house. Or got into some kind of cleaner and drank it. (I do keep it locked up) just hypothetical situations. ANYTHING could happen. I won't let a tragedy happen in my home when I can prevent it.

They are in their mid twenties. But I feel like they haven't had much 'world' experience and have a lot to learn.

I try not to have a short fuse. It takes a lot to not react how I really want to.

I hope I get some good sleep tonight. It's going to be a long day tomorrow. Lol. Toddler and puppy at the lake and boating I'll have to be on my toes. I better make a pot of coffee now and refrigerate it. ? I'm going to need it.

You are a better woman than I. I suspect in your shoes there would have been stomping and a large bucket of cold water involved in my wake up call! I hope you get a little rest tonight!

I edited my comment. You are such a good mom!

I'm on 3 hours of sleep. And I still have to get things ready for tomorrow. (We are going to the lake) #momlife #nosleep lol

I wish I could take a nap.

Not sex or drugs (as far as I know). They were sleeping on the couch in the living room. (It was about 7 when he came up) I told him to wake them up so they could make dinner. He came back up and said they are tired. I asked if he was hungry and he said yeah so I took him back down and woke them up again.

It's 9:30 pm now I myself have not had much rest at all. But it's because I'm a mom and my DD was up. If I nap its when she naps. But rarely get to actually nap with her.

It doesn't happen often because he doesn't stay over ever. But I will definitely have a long talk with them.

Нравится Ответить

I feel like they are pretending to sleep so they can have sex or do drugs. Its clear their own child does not come first

Edit: I want to add that you are doing the right thing. You are having a talk with them because you see the damage this may cause the child and you woke them up.

Нравится Ответить

What is wrong with them? I'll give you it's one thing to sleep in when you aren't used to getting up with a kid. Do I think it's right? No. Get up and take care of your kid. But more understandable than taking a nap instead of making dinner or playing in the evening. I would wake their butts up by stomping around and making the loudest noises I could. I would also be having a really serious conversation with them when appropriate about what should happen when he's over. Because this is just ridiculous.

Нравится Ответить

They're sleeping again? Why? Like pps asked, are they on drugs?

Нравится Ответить

That's so ridiculous? I've gotten my a** up at 6am for both my 1.5 & 2.5 year old, and am 32 weeks pregnant. Her boyfriend needs to take responsibility.

Нравится Ответить

Um, are they on drugs??????

This reminds me of my SO sister. Except she sleeps in a lot later than 10, she's still in bed at 3 or 4. She's a 'recovering'drug addict so she doesn't have custody of her kids but she gets unsupervised visits ? so she has them the whole weekend.

Her kids are 4 & 2. She had a younger one that suffocated in her crib but that's a whole other story ...

Anyway it scares me to death to think about what could happen to those babies. They have chewed batteries, poured gas in each other's hair, the adults leave suboxone wrappers in the floor and so much more. I try to stay over there on the weekends as much as possible. I always tell their grandmother who has custody of them everything. She is fighting to get the visits back to supervised!

We recently went on vacation for a week and this deadbeat slept 80% of the time. I literally had the kids the whole time. (Which I didn't mind at all) But yet she wines and cries like she wants to see them so bad.

Sorry to go off on a rant it just got me so upset thinking out her situation. If he can't stay up for what little time he has him then he doesn't deserve him. Maybe that's why the mother keeps the kid away from him.

If it were an occasional occurance, I would have no issue feeding him if I was up. If it were constantly, I would sit down and have a long talk with them.

When you have a child, you sacrifice for them. And sleep is one of them.

If you are that tires you cant get up when your child is. Put your child to sleep at a decent time and go to bed earlier.

Нравится Ответить

When u let my sister stay with me for a couple of months she always tried to pull that crap. Sleeping in long af while her 3 & 4 year old were awake. I would ALWAYS wake her as up

Нравится Ответить

I don't think that child should be in their care at all...

Нравится Ответить

What, are they on drugs or something? Who the hell sleeps that much?

Нравится Ответить

Omg!!! How ridiculous. At this point of be extremely pissed off I wouldn't make enough for them to eat. What is their deal?! Go wake their asses up

Ahhh they are asleep again! It's dinner time! ??

Нравится Ответить

They're the ones who are rude not you OP, your message was totally called for. What if you had already left to run your errands and he was just wandering around alone!?! That's insanely irresponsible of them to just shoo him away so they can sleep in. I could never sleep knowing my kids were just awake and doing who knows what. And it isn't like it's 5am or something! Time to wake up and be adults people!

Нравится Ответить

I would be so mad because I have a personal issue with things like this. My sister and her boyfriend do this all the time with my nephew and with his little girl. His little girl is 5 and my nephew is 2 and 1/2 years old. They will sleep till 11, no joke and let the kids be up from like 7 or 8 a.m. till whenever they (the adults) roll out of bed ?? it makes me so mad and my whole family is terrified that my nephew and the little girl could wander outside because they live on a farm and there is an actual swamp not that far from their house and he has been known to wander before. He has gotten injured during those hours and everything no amount of scolding my sister or talking to her has worked. She is so stubborn, so it's a constant battle. Anyway, I think that your text was perfect and you had every single right to be upset and do what you did. I don't think it was rude at all

Нравится Ответить

Is this foreal? Lol

If I were you, I'd ask my sisters boyfriend straight up why his son is here if he isn't going to put forth the effort and just expect someone else to care for his child.

Then I'd look at my sister and ask if she's really going to be just as irresponsible.... Then Walk away

It'd never bother me to care for the kid but it grinds my gears knowing he's under your supervision because of how irresponsible they are.

He never sleeps over. So it hasn't been reoccurring. His mom fights with the dad a lot. And won't let him see his kid. So that's why I felt I had to be his advocate.

I was asking if my text was rude.

I text her after that. And told her I wasn't screaming because I was mad but to wake them up. That they needed to get up and spend time with him. I was being his advocate. They woke up after the second time I went down. Asked for them to come talk to me. Expressed my concern and they took it well.

And it's a single family bi-level home.

Нравится Ответить

Are you asking if your text is rude? Or the fact that they're sleeping while their son is roaming around?

They are definitely the rude ones. Unless I specifically cleared it the night before, there's no way I'd be doing what they're doing.

Нравится Ответить

I would totally wake them up and call them out on it. Bad parenting at its finest. If they rarely see his child, they should not be sleeping in and missing out on the time they actually have with him. Poor child.

Нравится Ответить

Wake their asses up. I dont think its rude at all. Id be upset. Poor guy. He needs to eat

Нравится Ответить

I wouldn't have given them a chance to go back to sleep. It's rude of them to even think it's ok to just assume you'll pick up the slack. I'd have poured water on them so they had no other option but to get up

Нравится Ответить

So, if I'm gathering this correctly the boyfriend shares custody with the mother (who in the past has withheld the boy), they only get him a few days a week (which they are sad about), and they choose to sleep in while he's in their care?

Nope, nope, nope. ??????Wake their asses up. They are supposed to be parenting that boy, not snoozing the day away.

Нравится Ответить

If this is the norm, Hell yeah I was waking them. Come see about your kid. If it is not and this was the first time and I am already up preparing stuff for my child, I would just fix the kid something also.

Нравится Ответить

Yes, that's definitely rude. Either my husband or I will get up with our son when we are guests in someone's home - even family. If my mom or mil says she'll be happy to look after him to let us sleep, that's the only time I'd do it. I don't want people to dread when we visit because we decide not to parent just because other people are around.

Нравится Ответить

Oh I see. Definitely wake their asses up! Hope they're up by now though..

Нравится Ответить

I'd take him with me on my errands and let them freak out when they woke up and he wasn't there. Teach them a lesson. ?

Нравится Ответить

It's rude of them to sleep in instead of taking care of the kid.

Нравится Ответить

By downstairs is the house connected? I wouldn't like my 2 year old wandering up stairs what if he fell? And didn't scream and went unconscious? I'd be getting in someone's face telling them wake up or I'd be calling cps you don't leave a 3 year old awake alone when you're a heavy sleeper. I know I'm guilty of sometimes leaving my 2 year old awake if I dozed off but it's never for the night or longer than 30 minutes plus I sleep light he touches me i wake up. The doors stay locked so he can't get into anything or another part of the house etc. That little boy shouldn't be roaming that much with no parental supervision.. that's just my opinion..

Нравится Ответить

No I wouldn't unless it happens all the time... Otherwise I don't see it as a big deal..

Нравится Ответить

? I'm sorry. I laughed so hard at "they wouldn't wake up so I screamed" ?

But that's not fair for them to expect free childcare for them living with you...? I don't think the msg was rude at all

I wouldn't mind hanging out. But I do have things to do.

I woke them up again. I told my sister it makes my heart sad hearing them say they never have him but sleep in and lose time during the day to spend quality time with him.

Нравится Ответить

I would just hang out with the kid until they got up. Unless they do this all the time or wake up at an unreasonable time.

I honestly am more upset they complain that they never see the boy. And now he's here they are still not spending time with him. A weekend goes by fast. And they don't know if the Bf and kids Mom will fight and with hold the child for another month.

I'm guessing they went back to sleep because he's upstairs again. ?

Yup. I most def would wake them up!!!!

Нравится Ответить

How old is this child?? For him to be wandering around by himself

Нравится Ответить

It sounds like he is old enough to be purposely quiet? By the time Dd was 3 ish she would often wake up without making noise and sometimes she'd jump on my face but others she just snuck right past me.

I went to bed at 2 am. DD woke up at 3 am. Didn't go back to bed until 4 and woke up at 6 am. I'm tired. But I've been up. My child has eaten a snack and a small breakfast. And I've changed 3 diapers. Lol. I don't feel bad for waking them up. I scared them. They sleep like rocks! I yelled and yelled for them to wake up. I finally just screamed. Hahahahahahahahahahahabahahahahahahah I think I enjoyed that too much.

Now I've got to run errands while SO is working.

He wandered upstairs. Normally I tell him to go back down stairs. But this morning I invited him to watch Moana.

But I'm going down now! lol they can watch my puppy while I'm out and about now. ?

Нравится Ответить

TBH it can appear rude but I would have gone and woken them up personally so lol. You're right when you have the responsibility of children you don't get the luxury of sleeping in if they are awake. If baby girl is up, I am up and I've had to wake up at 3:30 am for the past week to cover someone's shift at work. Baby girl still goes to bed same time and wakes up same time on my days off. I don't get to crash before her or wake up later because I am tired.

Нравится Ответить

Yes. I would put their child on them and walk away. It's rude for them to expect you to care for their child so they can sleep.

Uhh absolutely!
