We're on Ca and he did try talking to the police officers at the academy and they said he may be able to miss some of the day but POST requires that certain hours and lessons are mandatory so if he misses it they kick him out. I'll ask about the letter, thank you! ?
Dh is at Napa academy. They're saying it's one of the "mandatory days" that he can't miss. The lawyer said I need to go to court even if Dh can't but I can't legally do anything. Do you know why I'd need to go?
In our court system only the lawyers go to court unless the judge apecifically wants them to be in court.
I think as long as you are writing a letter to show you care and that this is also about long term welfare for your entire family the judge will not take that into effect. But I'd trust your lawyer. That's the person that knows the judge the best
He needs to go to school. His lawyer needs to show up for him. Is BM a danger to SS? I'm going to say no because she gets visitation. Would it be AWFUL if she did happen to win? You really have to think about the WHOLE family and not just one child. Good luck. I'm sure whatever you decide will be the right decision for your family
Here you can appear telephonically too. Especially if your attorney is there, they call you and you participate by phone. Maybe they'd let him step away for a bit to take the call but not have to miss the whole day.
Yup, I'd ask the academy to provide a letter indicating that the day is part of mandatory training and confirming that missing it would result in being expelled, along with the ramifications (i.e. Having to wait x amount of time to reapply, being looked over in future attempts after being expelled, etc.). I would also ask about being able to appear via telephone or Skype.
Fingers crossed that it all works out and court goes well. ?
It's looking like it won't be continued. @Mish thank you that's an awesome idea! We'll ask our lawyer about appearing by phone when we meet with her this morning. We do have all the necessary documentation from the police academy but the court doesn't want a continuance because SS school is about to start and Hex is now in a stable living situation with her newest bf. Basically they don't see why she shouldn't have him.

I would definitely have DH go to the police academy. Can he have his boss/teacher write him a letter stating the consequences for missing school?
