One more IUI or move to IVF?

Hey! So we ended up with 4 that made it to blastocyst and we sent 3 for PGS testing (the fourth couldn’t be tested bc of where the inner cell mass was located, if they had taken a biopsy, it may have ruined it, so they didn’t risk it). 2 came back chromosomally normal and the third was inconclusive, which just meant that they may not have taken enough of a sample to test and could be normal too, or maybe not. We froze all 4 and transferred one embryo. I had a long-winded (not typical) experience bc I had a thinner lining and discovered some immune issues, but all were good when we did transfer. Unfortunately, I didn’t get pregnant. We took a break and I ended up getting pregnant naturally 2 months later and I’m now 15 weeks. Complete and total miracle. Point is that ivf and the entire experience is so different for everyone. I know so many ppl who have had success, especially after repeat loss (myself included), so i understand your concerns. We weren’t recommended IUI ever though because getting pregnant wasn’t the issue; initially, it had just been an egg quality thing, which is why we went straight to ivf with pgs.

For my clinic the PGS is $500 for 1-2 embryos, $995 for 3-4 embryos. But the biopsy on the embryos is $1500. So basically like $2500 for 4 embryos.

Thank you flowers!! How many embryos did you end up having to transfer? How many did you transfer and freeze? Did you do pgs testing? Was your cycle successful? Sorry for all the questions.

For me, the injections didn’t bother me at all and I even thought, the first time, that it wasn’t working because I felt the same lol but we had retrieved 15 eggs that cycle. The retrieval itself, I was put under, so I felt nothing and just woke up groggy. I took the next couple days off of work and rested, drank a lot of coconut water and Gatorade, and within a week/10 days, I got my period and felt normal again. Everyone is so different and so are their experiences. I remember being so nervous before I did my first ivf, but it wasn’t as for me at all. I wish you the best ❤️

@bolenchy i have endometriosis which make me produce low count egg i did my first egg retrieval they got 8 eggs 4 fertilized and after PGS i ended up with 1 egg then dh and i decided to do another one to have more embrios. second time ended up being same senario.I have separately for each retrieval out of our pocket.

@mrft7270 thanks you i will do my blood test on 26th which is 10dp5dt.and after egg retrieval if u want to do frozen transfer all the steps will take almost 6 weeks but again everybody is different it all depends when ur PGS result is ready and when u get ur period

It's a good price .Compare to what's obtainable here. I live in Houston. Make sure to ask them for cost for subsequent transfera too if you had to do one. My clinic take $3600 or so for first transfer after , $1800 for second and the 3rd or subsequent one will be free. however fresh ivf is around $10,300 excluding meds and pgs. So make sure to ask all "if" questions. Think they offer better pricing at ur Clinic

I have heard the same! So, I'm actually excited about the FET. I'm guessing it will cost roughly $10,850- $13,850 with meds, ER, transfer, 1yr of freezing and some other things. The website is IVFMD.net and then have it all broken down there. I will ask my doctor how much the PGS testing is since it's not on the website. I think we have enough since my dad is covering half. I'm just so ready to get started minus the long ass needles. I am terrified of those!

Great. $8500 will be good. Does it include transfer and PGS? Would be very nice if it does. However make sure to ask all questions about fee. And if you think you have save enough for ivf, make sure you save even more. Sometimes things will happen along the line that will require cost that u didn't plan for.

In my clinic as you asked pp, if you do PGS you'll have to do FET becos it's outsourced by them to another company so it will take some days for it to come back. But have heard success with fet is higher than fresh transfer. Good luck to you ??

@bolenchy Thank you! My clinic cost for IVF is $8,500 + $2,000-$5,000 worth of meds. They offer the 1st year free to freeze embryos and then $500 per year. It looks like we are going towards IVF after the latest discussion with my husband. I am about to make a new post on it.

@ninihart Praying you get good results! How did you retrievals go? We want to do PGS testing too. How long do you have to wait for the results and how soon were you able to do the transfer?

@ninihart, is there a reason why you did 2 egg retrievals ? And did you had to pay separately for the 2nd retrieval? Or was a combo/package?

i don't have an experience with IUI.for me IVF was the best option.currently 2dp5dt. honestly for me the cycle wasn't that hard I did 2 egg retrieval (which i recover pretty quick) and this is my first transfer.but when we started me and dh decided to do all the testing to make sure everything is normal.frozen transfer has higher chance i also did the PGS testing now fingers cross waiting for our result

I wish I had jumped into Ivf long before now when my RE had always said if 3rd IUI doesn't work then it's not a possibility that it will still work. But I continued to do iui before finally decided on ivf. If you really want to have a family, I think overall it will be worth it. Have heard people said after having their baby they didn't even remember the stress of ivf no more. I will go for ivf if I can afford it after 3 IUIs.

Is your clinic offering a cheaper fee for ivf and it's very affordable the way you sound? Good luck to you on your journey for wchever route you follow ????
