My cousin told me how her sons teacher told his class that santa died and all the kids were upset. She had to explain that santa wasn't real but a magical make believe being. He wasnt upset when she explained to him what Santa was. She was super pissed though at the teacher. Do you think the teacher was in the wrong? I do. I think telling a group of 8-9 year olds that is absolutely wrong! My kids aren't school age yet, but I'd probably say something to the teacher. Idk bc I haven't been in that situation before though. What do you think? Should she say something to the teacher or principal? He was crying and asking how Santa died.. ? it was sad.
That's the problem; saying CHILDREN are a little old. As a society we do not allow them to be kids. What is wrong with staying out of it as a teacher. If she heard the convo between kids I would have said "that's enough. Let's get back on task". I would have never interjected myself in that talk bc it isn't my place as their teacher to give my personal opinion. I have this issue with high schoolers and politics. I refuse to give my opinions bc I am of "higjer authority" of them and do not want to rub off on an inpressionable child.
@op it sounds like a child asked about it and she didn't know how to answer. I think it was a sticky situation to begin with. Had she said "Oh he's definitely real." Some other kid who's parents have already fussed up would have ruined it anyways. I highly doubt that she just hates children having fun and intended to ruin their childhood and brought the topic up herself.
I'm not raising my son to believe in Santa. It's just not for us. And before anyone say they feel sad for my son save it. He'll be fine trust me. But that doesn't give me the right to go around telling kids he's not real. I don't think it was her place at all to say this to the kids. No matter how old they are. This is something that should be left to the parents. But I do wonder if it's really true she said he's dead. Sounds way too harsh for a teacher to say.
She didn't say he died his teacher told the class he died!! She explained he wasntvreal and couldn't really die.... The teacher had no right to say anything to them.
I believed in Santa until I was about ten. But my dad told me Santa wasnt real not the teacher. And he didn't say he died. I mean 8-9 year olds are still in elementary school.. Like grade 3-4... I don't think it too old to believe in Santa and I absolutely believe it was unnecessary to say he died. Weather or not you want your child to believe would you seriously tell a group of kids that Santa died and break their hearts?? I'm sure that all those kids were sad. I mean he came home crying.. How is that ok bc you think its too old or bc you don't believe kids should grow up believing in Santa?
My cousin was 13 when my sister, who is younger than her, told her Santa wasn't real. She was heartbroken, and embarrassed that someone younger than her knew Santa wasn't real and she didn't. I feel like 9 years old is way too old to believe in Santa. There's a line between "magic" and plain deceit, to kids I think. My cousin was so mad that her mom and dad kept it up that long, because she looked stupid in front of the whole family when she was crying that Santa wasn't real.
ETA: I feel like it was inappropriate to make up a story that he died, if a child asked about Santa, she could have come up with something way better than he just died.
90% is not a B
What is with this? I'm really annoyed by it. Can someone explain WHY some teachers structure their grading this way? I think it's BS.
How old was your child when they told you Santa doesn't exist:(? Mine is 8 and she said if fairy tails don't exist Santa doesn't:( what do I do now ???? I asked her does that mean you wont leave him cookies this year :(?
I need help!!! Something is wrong with my dog and I have no money or job to take him to the vet. I think hes dying idk
We took vows....I do not believe in remarried...to death do us apart... forever...no retry.... even if your wife or husband died or divorce. What do you think about this??
Do you really think the way you are raised
Has no impact on when and how you decide to have sex? I read a comment on another thread that really rubbed me the wrong way. Something about how teens have sex and there's just no stopping it no matter how you raise them.
Yeah, the kids are a little old, but why the hell would she say Santa died?? Like I just can't see any good intentions behind that
