What can help make my brownies stay soft after baking them? When I store them for later, I put them in a container but, they got hard. I put foil over them, again they got hard.

Ive heard to use coconut oil instead of regular oil, makes them fluffier and moist.

My brownies are still soft!! I used bread and covered with foil. Perfect still. Yay!

Yep, you under bake them because when you first take them out of the oven they are still baking as they cool. I do it with cookies too. Soft centers for days.

My mom taught me to under bake them just a little.

I always add a cup of chocolate chips and eye ball them as they are baking. When it comes to the last 5-8 minutes, I will open the oven and poke them with a butter knife. When the knife comes out mostly clean, but not 100%, they are done. Works great every time! Allow to cool and then place in an air tight container.
Maybe, your containers with lids aren't air tight enough? You could try putting them on a plate and sealing them in a 1 gallon zip lock bag.

The bread thing totally works. The brownies stay soft and the bread gets hard. I wish I knew the science behind it

I'm sorry @iceberg I sound like a batch! When I said container I meant with a lid. When I use foil I put it right over the pan.

@Iceberg iv done that as mentioned in the op. They stay hard. I'll try the microwave too if they are hard tomorrow. I used a slice of bread tonight. Hopefully it helps bc I hate throwing out my brownies the very next day.

Bowl with a lid.

Put the hard ones in the microwave for 15 seconds. Not sure if this has been mentioned yet. It will soften them right up.

They stay soft until like 5-6 hours later! I can never eat them the next day. I heard bread too but wasn't sure. Thanks ladies! Y'all are awesome.

Try a slice of bread. I saw my grandma do that with cookies. It keeps them.softer longer and the slice of bread gets rock hard.

I never have that problem. Maybe cooking them too long. I generally take them out right before they get completely done because they kind of keep cooking after you take them out, hopefully that makes sense. Lol

Brownies are hard to cook properly! They still have to be gooey and they harden up while cooling.

Put a slice of bread in with them and see if that helps

Sounds like over baking.

My guess is that you are over baking.
