Beef stew seasoning packets mmmm

I use some brown gravy mix in the water.

I just throw a frozen roast in the crockpot over some quartered onions and season with salt and pepper. I let it go for about 8 hours on low. About 5 hours in I throw in some carrots and potatoes. Then when I serve it I also make a gravy from the drippings to go with it. Super easy! :)

Tonight it was so good. Even df liked it and he knew I put soy sauce in it. Lol. He could taste the difference. But it was a win for me. He don't like seasoning. Or marinating. Before we got together it was always fried pork chops and chicken with fries.

OP, I never tried making it in the oven! I tend to think it would be better in the slow cooker. Comes out perfect every time.

If you can, get a slow cooker or crock pot. So easy and I find I save so much on food bc it's foolproof and I can use cheaper cuts of meat.

@mag I know I need one. I would love to make half of the stuff my mom made in hers! Plus I always though those were a kitchen necessity. Lol. I only have a foreman grill, the oven/stove top. I don't have a microwave or toaster till October 5/6.

@brunch I would love to try that. But I don't have a slow cooker. Is their a way to make it in the oven?

Easiest pot roast recipe (but maybe not the healthiest)

4-6 lb rump roast

1 can of coca cola (do not use diet, do not use Pepsi)

1 packet of Lipton onion soup mix

Lightly flour outside of roast and just quickly brown the outsides of the roast in a pan w a little vegetable oil (just to put a seal on it)

Then throw roast, soda and onion soup packet in a slow cooker.

Cook on low heat for 8 hrs.

I use 1cup of a-1 steak sauce mix with 1cup of water and to that I add mushroom gravy packet and onion gravy packet and then I either do it in the crock pot or in a cooking bag in the oven

I always add some vinegar gives it a great zing. And you can't taste it, it just adds a different element of flavor.

I just use the pot roast packets and add either water or mix it with beef broth,potatoes, onions, small carrots,celery, and a sliced jalapeño. I don't no if your into spicy food but the jalapeño definitely adds some spicy-ness to my roast and we enjoy it very much ?

I always add au ju powder rosmary, basil thyme and pepper. Some people use apple juice but I do not

Mmmm. All good ideas. He made me mad last night so I should be like screw it I'm going to use it, but I don't need more fighting. Its very tense already! I used a1 sauce and then I mixed it with Montreal steak seasonings. I rubbed it on the roast and then added some water to the pan. I'm going to put veggies in it that are marinating in a1 sauce now.

My mom used to buy the pot roast packets but I couldn't find one.

When I make mine I use beef broth, Lipton onion soup mix, carrats, onions, and potatoes. Although last time I almost cried because my husband threw away the onion soup mix and it didn't taste right.

I usually put 1 pack of onion soup mix, worcestershire sauce, pepper, onion and garlic powder, seasoned salt, bay leaf, beef broth, and about 1 cup of either apple juice or ginger ale, dr. Pepper or pepsi depending on what I have on hand. I also put potatoes onions celery and carrots with it. I know its braised but its so good.

Another one I like is just a roast with a packet of Lipton beefy onion soup and beer. I forget how much beer is used though.

My husband likes 3 packet roast, its just a 2lb chuck roast with 1 packet each of ranch dressing, Italian dressing and brown gravy. I put potatoes & carrots in with it too.

Not pregnant. But no beer lol. If df came home and his last beer is gone he will use me for flavor! Lol jk but he would be mad at me.

If not preggers you could use a dark beer instead of water.

I hate the word too @mag. That sounds good. My mom said use soy sauce to cook it in with water. Then a rub with dry seasonings. I might have to do that. Plus ill throw in a bag of stir fry veggies. That should be good with the soy sauce. Lol. I always have to make stuff before df gets home bc he's a plain kinda guy. He won't eat if he sees me use other stuff. Its hard to mix it up a bit.
