Salt dough ornaments
If I make the dough and bake them can I paint them the same day after they cool? I read somewhere to wait 2 days after baking? Just trying to do an Easter craft with dd.

I tried to do salt dough handprints but for some reason they just puffed up and didn't work. I tried a couple different recipes but i couldnt get it right! Hopefully you have more luck than I did lol.

You can find a recipe where you cook it in the microwave. You can paint it straight away.

I've always painted either same day or next morning and never had a problem! If you let them air dry for a bit then put them in the oven they get weird and crack, so try to get them in the oven pretty quick after they're made.

@bmoss it is pretty easy. My first time I made them too tick so it took forever to dry. The more I’ve attempted the better I’ve gotten

I’ll make them tonight so we have something to do this weekend then. I’ve never made them but it looks easy.

Ones I’ve done I did colour in the dough so I wouldn’t have to paint ? so I really am not sure

I made salt dough ornaments when dd was newborn with her footprints. They took like a week to fully dry. Seemed like forever.
Eta: dumb@ss me sprayed the pan with Pam and I beleive that was part of the drying prob. Lol the Pam soaked into them a little
