Who had a farm?!

We are moving to an old farm house in the fall and I'm so excited it's so beautiful! The current renters have a chicken coop with chickens that they cannot take with them. My SO said we could keep them and I'm so excited. Anyone have tips for caring for them? I've been researching some online. We live in Ohio where it gets pretty cold if that matters.

I live in Ohio and also have chickens. We see them more as livestock than pets... It helps me not to get too attached... I mean... We end up eating them. ?

Coop with nesting boxes, heated water bowl, or keep their water near the heat lamp. (You'll need a heat lamp in the winter.) Layer feed (assuming they're layers), we prefer crumbles. We also feed cracked corn, it helps to stretch out your feed. Keep your feed somewhere where mice can't get it! Coons will try desperately to get them (amongst other critters) so have a good door for your coop. Good luck!!

I have chickens! It gets in the negative during winter where I live too. They're pretty easy to care for and there's nothing better than fresh eggs- so different from store bought. Just do your research!

Chickens are great! They are really social if you handle them. My niece has one and it is her "baby". As pp said make sure they are warm in the winter months and have some kind of locking mechanism on the coop at night time so that other predators don't try to get to them. Since everything is already set up for them, they are probably used to it so it'll be easy to maintain them!

Chickens are pretty tough. Just make sure their coop is bedded with plenty of hay during the winter, and especially if they are laying hens. My grandpa always fed his table scraps along with regular milled corn ?

Watch out for snakes in summer hiding where the eggs are too.

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
