Mother who lost her son

What do you guys think about the FB post of the mother who lost her son at 7 months the other day due to a blanket in the crib?

Комментарии

I did not see this story yet. I feel for the family and my thoughts and prayers go out to them.

My dd is 15 months and she still rarely gets a blanket. If I do give her one it's tucked in tightly around her belly area and it's a thin breathable one. That's only if she falls asleep in something that may be chilly for her. I try to dress her according to the temp inside so she doesn't need a blanket.

My son is attached to his blankets. My mom bought him mini breathable silk ones, its too small he wouldn't even be able to wrap it around his neck, so that's what I give him now as his security blanket. He still has another bigger thicker one but I always keep an eye on him, I have my monitor. Most of the time he just removes it though so he doesn't sleep with it at all, but everytime I get a chance I watch the monitor to see what he's up to! He's 7 month also.

Dd is very attached to her blanket. She will not sleep without it.

My heart goes out to this family. That poor baby was taken too soon

Dd is 20 months old and has slept with a blanket since about 6 months. Now I'm even more paranoid but I think has a lot to do with the poor baby pulling it through the railing.

Ds started sleeping with his blanket at about 5 months old. But then again we bed share. Only him and i. And i would constantly wake up and make sure the blanket wasnt ever in his face. Hes 2.5 now and still sleeps with it.

Baby number 2 is due any day now and reading all this stuff about what happened to this womans baby makes me paranoid. I've had to start "hiding" posts from people sharing it all over fb. I dont wanna read it about anymore. Its awful.

Such a sad story. ?

Ds1 2.5y and he just got a pillow and blanket last week.

My almost two year old sleeps with a pillow and two blankets. Last night I went and took his pillow and one of the blankets out. I'm way too paranoid!!

This is the story that appeared on my fb feed about the little darling.

Little babies don't know how to move the blanket out of face like a 2 year old.

Very sad. That's why I always preach about back is best sleepers, they are awesome ( the halo ) blanket sleepers. It's like wearing a blanket that can't hurt you. All my kids wore them till 2

I read it on the news site here, with the caption about the heartless anti-vax groups posting to her saying it was due to vaccines. It was after the messages from them she posted the comment pp has copied over. This is such a heartbreaking situation. Shame on the anti-vaxers who messaged her. Grubs do it to people so often and it's quite frankly just disgusting.

My heart goes out to her...

Anything can happen.

My SO cousins wife co slept with her little girl and accidentally suffocated her. Only reason why I have never co slept with my kids, its just terrifying thinking about it?

I also read that they put him to bed with two blankets and one somehow got stuck in the railing. It's so terribly sad... especially because I have a 7 month old myself and i can't even begin to imagine how they feel.

My question is, however, how did nobody check on him until 9:48am? Do they not use a monitor? How could he be alone for so long? Maybe I'm overprotective because I'm a FTM but we recently moved my son into his own room and I watch him like a hawk on the monitor all night. He also still wakes up a couple times a night because he's teething/nursing.

Just so so sad. My heart goes out to that family.

And yet people jump on commenters when they post about safe sleeping environments ?

It's incredibly sad, I can't imagine their pain.

I cried so hard when I read her story. I lost my own 11 month old son, from SIDS last year. Losing a child is unimaginable. ?

This is the post that I saw.

"To those who keep commenting and messaging trying to blame vaccines for our sons death- stop. Initially I had not wanted to explain the detailed circumstances of his death because of my guilt and the fear of condemnation from others. But I will not allow anyone to try and place blame where it does not belong.

He was last laid down to bed with this blanket made by his great-great grandmother, and one other blanket, a grey one he had been attached to since birth. They took the grey one he had been found with his head in. He had pulled it through the crib rails somehow and gotten himself stuck in it. You never think it will happen to you. You never think it will be your baby. Please do not put your babies to bed with a blanket. Please. He was 7 months old, I thought because he was crawling, standing on his own, and climbing, that he would be fine with a blanket. This is the face of immense, unfathomable grief, the face of longing, of heartbreak, of self inflicted GUILT. I will NEVER stop feeling responsible. I will relive this for the rest of my life knowing EXACTLY what I could have done differently. Please learn from my world shattering mistake."

I follow her on Instagram, her first post didn't include how he passed, but sh3 posted a second time asking people to stop sending her messages saying that it's because of vaccines, and then she explained about the blankets

So very, very sad. ?

My heart goes out to this family. I have been so paranoid about blankets. Our LO is almost 16 months old and sleeps in a halo sleepsack. She tosses and turns so much at night, it just scares me.

I think no parent should lose a child. It's awful.

I also think, from being in various groups where some followed her, her story has changed a few times. I've seen some say she originally posted something else and then took it down & reposted about the blanket. Idk. I didn't see it.

Ultimately, I just think it's awful and I pray I never have to know what they're going through feels like.

I read it. I'm confused because the first time I read it I thought she put him in bed with two blankets. And he pulled it around the crib bars and that's how he got tangled up in it, but when I re read it it seemed like he pulled it through the bars and he didn't have it to begin with. Either way I read it and it made me cry and take my sons blanket away. But my sons only 10 months. If he was over a year I would let him keep it. I just assumed since he could crawl and cruise and climb he was fine. But now I'm second guessing myself. I feel horrible for them. I couldn't imagine the pain and suffering this loss is brought upon them. ❤️

I haven't heard of this story but poor mama :( how heartbreaking for her what a tragedy. My girl sleeps with a blanket too I try my best to keep an eye on her but you really just don't know how things can turn so ugly. I think I'll take it away today

I saw it. I recently joined a facebook group that she is apart of and that's how I found out. Then I found out how it happened a few days later. Its just sad. Sad to know that she will live with that the rest of her life.
