Chiropractor rave

So today I went to the chiropractor for my 2nd appt. first was just a full physical exam with X-rays. So today the dr went over my results!! Didn’t know it would be this intense!! My neck is totally straight!! No curve what’s so ever!! It was amazing to see however I know how bad it is!! Then I got adjusted which I will need 3 times a week. I’m also required to attend his seminars 3 times a month!! After being adjusted just once my neck feels better. Anyone else see a chiropractor on a regular basis?

Exactly @mold that’s what he wants to do is to educate his patients. The seminars are actually pretty sound pretty cool. He’s not selling me anything. Just wants his patients to live the best lives they can

I wish i could see my chiropractor more often. I have scoliosis as well as my next also being completely straight and sometimes I joke that my chiropractor is the best thing to happen to me.

I see a chiropractor every day... in the mirror! I’m a chiropractor and have been practicing for almost 5 years, with a diplomat in nutrition. I specialize in applied kinesiology and treat pediatric patients with autism, adhd, allergies, and other d/o. I also help patients with cancers alleviate pain and create cancer killing diet plans. Those are my two specialties. I also use homeopathy regularly, but old school homeopathy as in making my own remedies not the crap they sell in drug stores. I started practicing treating musculoskeletal pain but found my path in crazy sometimes I can’t even explain miracles. I can not see patients 3 times per week because I have a wait list out 6 months.

But for those questioning why so many visits : OP’s cervical musculature is used to holding her posture in her “normal” position. The chiropractor adjusted the subluxations to “anatomically correct” position but her muscles’ memory wants to pull the vertebrae back to her normal posture. Overtime the “anatomically correct” position will become her new normal position and the visits will decrease. Rome wasn’t built in a day right?

Many chiropractors have educational seminars, I myself included. Once a month I do a “dinner with the doc”. It’s not necessary to come but most patients do.... in school we learned that the word doctor translates to teacher. A doctor should always be educating their patients on health and ways to achieve it. If i tell a patient over and over and over to make a change and they do not listen whether it be diet, exercise, or posture I terminate treatment and refer out. Life’s too short to be wasting both of our time.

Some chiropractors do what’s called a flying 7 on a schedule. It’s 7 standard adjustments to align the spine. I’m not saying it’s wrong because obviously it’s helping or people wouldn’t come back for treatments. I just choose to specialize. You know you’re getting the flying 7 from your doctor if it’s left neck, right neck facing up, flip over crack crack crack down the mid back and then left then right side lying adjustments.

Kmcel..... by saying you can not really tell what’s going on with out an X-ray is absolutely absurd. Plus haven’t you heard of gonadal and spinal shielding???? You’d think someone in a radiology program would know how to shield parts of the body? You can absolutely take cervical and limb radiographs of a pregnant woman. Now with a 33 week pregnant patient complaining of low back pain without and heck even with neurological symptoms wouldn’t need an X-ray. Orthopedic tests could give more than enough objective data for a diagnosis. It’s not about the risk it’s about the fact that the diagnosis is the same without imaging. Unless there is reason for significant degenerate disease, recent trauma or significant history of trauma, or the suspicion of malignancy an X-ray isn’t necessary.

I rarely do X-rays in my practice as there are multiple other forms of gaining subjective and objective information on a patient. Some chiropractors do them as standard protocol and draw all the lines except unless the person is standing in the same exact position every time a radiograph is taken you can not compare pre/post radiographs. You’d literally have to strap a person to a wall with forehead and chin straps and straps all the way down their body to confirm the same posture is used. Some chiropractors can scam you by just having you tilt your nose up in a second radiograph and you’ll see a huge difference in the imaging. So be careful. Motion palpating can tell you more about posture than any X-ray I’ve ever seen.

As for insurance..... just remember health insurance has as much to do with health as life insurance has to do with life. I used to take multiple insurance programs but in the long run it just wasn’t worth it. I still take a few but I’m trying to become a cash only practice. I still print the paper work for the patients to turn in for reimbursement, whatever that may be.

If you’re pregnant and looking for a chiropractor you should look for qualifications on Webster technique or ICPA affiliation.

I want to get in to see a chiropractor, but being almost 33 weeks pregnant and knowing the effects of radiation (former x-ray student) on a fetus I'll skip it. Can't really tell what's going on without x-rays and it's not worth the risk.

I will agree that it does sound kinda sketchy. Having to attend seminars or he won't adjust you? ??

bmr4g, my chiropractor is similar to yours, does sports rehab as well. He’s great and was awesome when I was pregnant too! He doesn’t do cupping or other things like that, but adjustments and massage work which is fabulous.

ss3mom, I’d had to agree with pp... I’m sorry but 3x a week consistently, then going to seminars just seems absolutely ridiculous. I’d get a second opinion or talk to your primary. My dad recently went to a different chiropractor and the guy did the same thing to him. He’s still going to get some adjustments but that’s it, and he’s taking his X-rays with him.

I see a chiropractor at least once every 2 months. When I was pregnant I went much more often.

I don’t want to burst your bubble OP but it sounds EXACTLY like a place by me. The guy did the X-rays and basically made it sound like DH and I were going to die if we didn’t do his program, which we had to sign a contract for monthly payments or he wouldn’t continue adjustments. I did some research and it’s a total sales pitch for a scam essentially. He used different devices which is not really necessary. And I refuse to sign ANY care contract for medical services, especially alternative medicine.

With ALL of that being said, I then went to another chiropractor who also specializes in sports injury, rehabilitation and pretty much will figure anything out that you need him to. He’s facking amazing. He never once made me feel like crap for not coming sooner, lifestyle choices, never made or even suggested a set care plan or contract. We just set up appointments for what was needed. He also does dry needling which helps with scarred muscle tissue, cupping, tins units etc. I would HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY recommend you do some research on the one you just chose because I can almost guarantee he’s part of the pyramid scheme I almost fell for.

@szo I have to get adjusted 3 times a week for some time then down to two times a week then once a week. But I have to go to his seminars 3 times a month. I saw the X-rays of my spine. My neck was totally straight not curve what’s so ever!! I wish I took a pic of it it was pretty cool

ETA you’re right my bad I did say that wrong in my comment lol

Also this dr was very through and went into detail about how important proper alignment was and it was really interesting. I have 7 discs that are issues. Not to mention my whole sacrum is out of line. My right hip is significantly higher then my left hip due to a fall about 1&1/2 years ago

Also eta we have a health insurance savings account so I just pay with that! It’s a credit card account

I used to go for severe headaches. I had state insurance at the time, so they were having me come in about twice a week for a month. Then once a month. That lasted a long time. Now I have my own private insurance and only go when I absolutely need to because it’s expensive. But he does amazing work and usually my neck feels better and my headaches subside.

I love my chiropractor but I don’t visit him regularly, ever. There are tons of chiropractors out there who are big salespeople.

Mine is super helpful and makes a point to not have me continue seeing him regularly as it’s not necessary, for me at least. I’ve been going to him for years and each time it’s a few visits, then I’m usually good to go and I call again if I have an issue.

Why do you have to go so often? It just seems like a lot, so for me personally, I’d be weary. I’m also confused because you said you’d go 3x a week, but then in a comment you said 3x a month?

I've been in the past for sciatica, it didn't help much. I'd feel better for a few days then it would be back. My insurance at the time only covered like 10 visits a year, which got used up quick going weekly and then I didn't think it was worth it

@badkitty I have a high deductible with insurance so it’s around 300 bucks a month. For the 3 times a month. Then I’ll go down to 2 times a month then once a month for maintenance. I’m already feeling better with one adjustment

ETA this guy is about 3mins away from my house so it’s convenient. And the adjustments will only take about 10 mins each time

I use to see a chiropractor when i lived at home. He was amazing and honest. I saw 2 diff. Chiropractor where i love and they aren't worth a crap. One told me i had degenerative disc disease and arthritis that was advanced for my age. I went to a specialist and turned out he lied. Doubt I'll go back to another one unless i visit home

3 times a week?! How much does that cost? I have neck issues and have contemplated going but I don't want to have to travel into the city 3 times a week...

Yesterday I went out with my boyfriend went to watch a movie, me and him don't live together yet. but point is yesterday when he was dropping me off his like sleep over at my house witch the mom and dad lives. I said no, his response was why is everyone deciding or making choices for you and their going to do the same with the baby, when I know that's not true. what he thinks is that my mom tells me not to sleep over. So he left all mad. and I felt in my heart that he went on and cheated on me and did something else with an other girl.... and it's 10:51 am now and he hasn't texted me at all. and after he dropped me off I texted him saying what I felt and nothing. I don't know if I'm over reacting or what or what should i do. do i wait until he text me?

need suggestions.... So at work we have a drink thief. Any time we put a drink in the fridge it disappears. I swear I know who it is. So far he's taken drinks from everyone that works in the office, we even put a sign to not take anything you didn't pay for and wrote our names on the drinks. The person I think is taking them works out of the office so we never get to see who is drinking them.
