Buying a new mattress update in comments
So I’ll be looking for a new mattress now.
Ok so I got a new bed!! We got the serta I comfort bed. It’s like a temperpedic but much less expensive and I actually found it more comfortable. I also bought new bedding and pillows cause what the heck not lol!!! It elevates both at the head and feet. We just got it delivered today so I really can’t wait to get the kids to bed and lay on our new bed to watch tv and see how awesome my nights sleep is. Also we can return the mattress up to 120 days but must sleep on it for at least 30 nights before returning!!! I’m really hoping this bed is as amazing as it felt when I was laying on it in the store!!! Also I bought it from a family owned and operated business!! So no big box store. I was pretty excited about that too. They gave us 2 free pillows that’s were $100 bucks each!!! The pillow is amazing!!! So here’s to hopefully great nights sleep ahead for me!!!
@whos does it have to be a king to elevate the head and leg parts? We have a queen bed frame
We have a bob-o-pedic firm and we’ve rotated it but I tend to roll into the middle now. It’s been I think 5 yrs or so and it’s annoying. When we first got it, it sure was firm, perfect for my back and had no issues. Now I roll to the middle often and it’s not as firm. Can wait to sell it or donate it for our king size. I like pillow tops but not all the time. I would need to buy a separate top for that plus not all sheets fit over pillow tops.
I have a tempurpedic and tbh at times I feel like it’s too firm (like right now as I lay on it). I got the adjustable one so I do enjoy how I can adjust the head and foot part. It’s a split king so I really can’t feel my SO moving. The only downside about the split is it makes it hard to cuddle, upside is we can each enjoy our own level of adjustment for moving up or down. We spent a ton of money on this bed too. Sometimes I wish I had something more squishy, not this firm! The sales lady said the firmness will lighten up after a while, but I’m still waiting and it’s been 5 years lol.
Also, the Massage part is a joke.
Thanks ladies!! I think I’m going to check out the mattress firm today and no I’m not bringing my kids lol!!! I’ll be going to several different stores so it will take some time to find the right one. My husband doesn’t even wanna go shopping with me lol. I’m a very indecisive person haha. He said pick a few I like then he will check them out!!! I’m def going to look at the tempraperic and the sleep number. Those are the two I really want to try out!! But I’ll be referring back to the post for the other suggestions. Thanks for the help ladies!!! Mattress shopping for me today while the kids are in school!!! I’m so excited but nervous cause I’m sure I’ll be overwhelmed
Only advice I have bc everyone else has covered it (lay on the beds at a mattress store) is do not take your kids ?
We took DD w us when I was pregnant and it was a joke. She wanted to bounce all over the beds.
I would opt for a firmer bed that way you can get a topper for more cushion if needed.
Can’t make a cushiony bed firmer.
I bought a new one a fee years ago. It was intimidating. There are so many out there. We ended up going with a local brand pillow top but it's also pretty firm. Go into a buncha different stores and take to the sales ppl and get an idea of what is in your budget and what you like. Lay down on them too.
Got the Purple mattress a few months ago and I love it! There are so many affordable, tempurpedic style mattresses you can order online and this one was one of them. There was a website or two that I checked out beforehand that compared all the different mattresses and Purple was the right fit for us. The only thing is that you need to have the right sheets. Regular sheets don’t feel right. We have jersey knit now. It molds into the mattress better and it’s so comfortable!
I have a Hampton and Rhodes. It was pretty expensive for a mattress, but it’s amazing. We’ve had it for 4 years, and there’s absolutely no sinking. We bought it from Mattress Firm. But dh, and I have the bad habit of just going to one store, trying it out, and buying it...when we could’ve gotten a better deal elsewhere. So just take your time and look around.
Simmons Beautyrest is where it’s at. Just the right mix of firm and soft. Do know that it will take 30 days to break your mattress in. I did not know this and called to complain to Mattress Firm that the Mattress was way too hard and nothing like what I tried out at the store. That’s when they explained that the Mattress needs time to be broken in. I was miserable for a few weeks but it eventually softened.
We had a temperpedic. After awhile it dips so I was constantly moving to different parts of the bed lol then we got a sleep number. Liked it at first but I when i would lower my sleep number it would basically turn into a hammock. I’ve been sleeping on a tuft and needle for over a year now and LOVE IT! Way better than the other ones and the price is AMAZING!
I loathe mattress shopping! We went to three different stores and "tested" all different kinds. I got so fed up I finally just told my husband to pick one! I guess I'm not the best to ask ?
Just wanted to say, the one we got hurt my back for the first week or so but then I loved it! So if u end up waking with a hurt back the first few days give it a little time, u might just need to break it in/get use to it. Definitely get a warranty tho!
Walk into any mattress store and start laying on beds. Usually someone will come over and help you. When I needed a new mattress I was pregnant with Ivy and they gave me every discount they could. I think they felt bad for me lol. They were super helpful. Asked if I want a soft or firm mattress and my budget. Then showed me what they had that fit with what I wanted. I’m so indecisive, so testing out the mattresses with someone that could help me narrow down what I wanted was really helpful.
Yes we have a pillow top right now and I hate it!! It’s sinking in the middle too. What’s a good store that has a wide variety? Like mattress firm? Any other stores that carry a lot of different brands? I’ve been thinking of the temperedic but I hear u get really hot with those. And I already have pretty bad night sweats so I don’t want anything that will make me really hot while sleeping
I have a mattress from The Original Mattress factory that I love. It's a double sided, ultra plush pillow top. ??? 18" of pure heaven.
I know some people prefer firm, I do not. But just a tip: To truly get a feel for a mattress I was told it takes about 15 minutes for your body to adjust to the bed and for you to know if you find it comfortable, so while you shop try and test out beds for as close to 15 minutes as possible to get a real feel for how it feels to you. You can't really tell by sitting on them or hopping on and off quick.
I like softer mattresses. I like to feel like I’m sleeping on a cloud. We have a Serta pillow top and I absolutely loved it three years ago when we bought it. Now it’s starting to sink in in the middle. I wouldn’t recommend a pillow top bc unlike a regular mattress you can’t flip it or anything. We bought ours from Rooms To Go. I don’t know if they have those everywhere but most places keep them out on the showroom floor and you can lay on them to see what is most comfortable for you. Then they’ll order one if they don’t have it in stock.
Let’s talk sheets..
I see pictures of mattresses without sheets constantly. This is foreign to me. My mattresses ALWAYS have sheets on them. We have multiple sets, when one set comes off the new ones go on.
How often are your mattresses naked?!?

Our new Purple mattress and frame came today!
