Let’s take thanksgiving back!!!
Oh so I’ve seen so many post about people dreading thanksgiving with in laws or hosting and stressing over that!! My husband asked 3 years ago that With Christmas being around the corner with all that rushing Around that we take our thanksgiving back!!! It’s truly amazing our thanksgiving days. No stress and just lounging all day cooking a bit. But making the whole spread. So maybe make it your new tradition of just staying home with your so and kids!! Who’s with me lol?!?!
My husband and I have done our "own" Thanksgiving even before having children. Lol. We see both sides of the family at Christmas and it just got to be so overwhelming!
So for the past 6 years we've made cinnamon rolls for breakfast, and a full turkey dinner. Now we just have someone else to share it with! It's definitely our tradition, and I don't ever plan on changing it.
We've stopped having Thanksgiving with dh's side of the family since his grandmother died. It used to be such a stressful day. We'd have to get up and get ready to go to his family's. Then have an hour or two to get everything ready to go to my family's. It felt like all we did was run all day. Now his family has stopped doing Thanksgiving and my family keeps it small. I love getting up and being able to watch the parade with my kids while I cook lunch. Dh fries the turkey and we have a great lunch, just the 5 of us. For dinner my SIL take turns hosting, but it's a small gathering that doesn't drag on for hours. I finally enjoy Thanksgiving now.
Yes I’m so happy some of u do the same!! I wouldn’t let my mom or in laws pressure me into doing thanksgiving with them lol. It’s mine and my husbands favorite holiday so we took it back for ourselves and our children. My oldest sons bday was yesterday and we got him a whole big set of Legos. My husband is currently working on putting together our new Lego Christmas village lol. I’m going to be cooking a bit while him and the kids do the Legos!! I love my extended family that’s why we do so much running around on Christmas but not today!!’
We rotate family on Thanksgiving every year. We took Christmas back though, my kids are the youngest and are at the point they want to play with their new toys so I said we are staying home on Christmas and if you wanted to see us please stop by. I made breakfast and my in-laws came by, had dinner just our little family, my family we saw on Christmas Eve. Now with a lo with Autism we are going to see what she can tolerate but told DH to expect we will start doing holidays here if it is too overwhelming.
I’m telling u ladies. We are the same as others in that Christmas is all running around. I also have about 5 Christmases and it’s hard with 2 small kids.
It’s a lot for them. So my husband just asked for this one holiday and it’s been such a great tradition for our little family. No stress just chilling and cooking. I’m even having bloody Mary’s and I hardly ever drink so I’m really going to enjoy me day! I encourage all other moms and families to do the same
I told my family this year I don't have time to sanitize their homes.. we are usually at three homes four if you include ours in the am on holidays and it's just ridiculous. I'm 36 weeks pregnant. Three kids and you know the deal with Tanecia lol I just don't have the patience .. and it's our first new home! So we are hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas this year and will more than likely just make our new tradition
So excited ?? even though I will have fifteen people over in a house I just moved in last week?
This is what I planned.... since last year! All of a sudden SO wants to do dinner with his brother. That means going to dinner at his brothers friends house. ? every year since we have been together he has stayed home and didn’t eat or do anything with family. It’s kinda weird he wants to go somewhere now.
Ok, fine. But I told him I’m still cooking dinner on Saturday (it’s better so his son can eat with us) He tried to talk me to making it at his brothers house! I told him to stop trying to take my turkey day away we are having it at our house, and it’s going to be cooked my way. Lol
Hopefully we stay home next year.
Sounds like our thanksgiving from last year and will be continuing this year ?? it really is waaayy less stressful. I get the whole ‘spend time with your family’ thing but I’d rather do it whenever we feel like it. It feels waaayy less awkward when we hang out when it’s not holiday season lol
We did this for 3 yrs and i loved it!!!! Then my husband folded last yr to the parent guilt and told them we would come.... I miss my holiday i made the whole spread we drank hot cocoa and decorated the house foe christmas then ate turkey in our pajamas and watched movies. I LOVED it and want it bacl desperately.

All the paper as to say is “Cody, Kaela’s love for you is so big it reached (state name)”
Any help would be so appreciated! Also it is our 5 year anniversary on Valentine’s Day ❤️ (you just have to write it on paper and take a pic of it for me)
