I had two abnormal paps when I forgot and had sex the day prior. Hold off if you can.

You're not supposed to have anything in the vagina for about 24-48 hours before. It can disturb or remove cervical cells that they want to scrape during the pap and possibly abnormalities could be missed

If a pap smear is anything like a cervical smear test in the UK, I always get a leaflet in my reminder letter saying sex is ok beforehand but condoms are not.

I always thought it was bizarre that a few sperm weren't an issue but a condom was, although I guess it's to do with the spermicide and/or lubricant on there.

Yea I guess pp. but like I said earlier it can alter the test results giving false results

I would guess they say that only so there's no goo left over ? or signs of irritation that might make it look like something else?

It's true guys!!! Dr google says it can mask abnormal cells cause the test to be inaccurate!!! I knew I wasn't just making that up. I heard it years ago but wasn't sure it was still true but it is!!! Bj it is I guess lol

I was never told that but I used that as my excuse a few weeks ago. My husband got in the shower with me and I was like no man I just wanna wash my hair in peace so I told him I couldn't have sex since I was about to go to my appt. I had no idea that was actually a thing! ??

Yes, my doctor always says no sex for 24 hours before.

i have never heard that...definitely didn't follow that for my pap last year... ? didn't have any problems or have the doc say anything though!
