Quitting smoking

So I'm not pregnant or plan on being pregnant ever again. I have 2 little boys with whom I didn't smoke while pregnant. So I'm really trying to quit smoking. I've been about a pack a day for more then 1/2 my life which is really embarrassing to say. I'm using the patch and have a vapor cigarette which I use when I need that physical habit of smoking. Anyone have tips/tricks or just words of encouragement thanks

Colouring! Whenever I want to smoke I grab my vape and my colouring book.

Thanks. I'm doing pretty well. Had 3 yesterday and none today so far and feel pretty good. It's all I'm my head at this point I feel. I just keep telling myself I wanna be around longer for my boys and that's helping too.

I tried to stop smoking too. I just stop and every time I wanted one, I just try doing something with my hands (cleaning or take baby outside for some fresh air) but every time my nerves get bad, I give in. And I'm mad at myself for starting up again because I quit as soon as I found out I was pregnant and didn't smoke for about 11 months but out of no where I started again. It is all in our heads.

Ugh I know why does it have to be so hard. Anyone who has never smoked has no idea how hard it is to quit esp since I've been doing it for so long. Taking it one hour at a time lol

When you want one just distract yourself. Stressful situations are the hardest. It's really mind over matter. Just gotta tell yourself NO! Try to stay away from people who smoke. I smoked for 15yrs and quit cold turkey. My husband said I had to quit for 3 months before we could try for a baby. I quit like 2 weeks later.... going on 2 years. You can do it. Just think about your kids. You want to be around right? That should be motivation!!!

You need to pick up a hobby. Smoking was your hobby, and you need to replace it with something else. Download an app that shows when your last cigarette was so you have something to strive for. Watching how many hours you've been smoke free helps. Try yoga and meditation

I smoked since I was 16. A pack a day just like you, sometimes I'd smoke more then a pack...

Well, I just stopped one day. It was bothering SO, an I was worried about my health. An I just stopped cold turkey. The first two weeks were the hardest.

I haven't smoked in over a year ?

You can do it!!! The reward is much greater than the struggle to quit. Just think of how nice it will be to be healthy, smell good, and save money. Your little boys will thank you! You can also remind yourself that third hand smoke is harmful, so by smoking you actually are harming your children too.

Also anytime I craved one I would eat a mint or a piece of gum... It helped me

Every time you go to smoke say out loud in front of who ever is there "this cigarette is worth dying for". Because that's the reality. We know that smoking kills. You know it kills. You have to have the will power every single day to tell yourself that smoking a cigarette isn't worth your kids visiting you in the hospital. It isn't worth not playing with your grand kids Because you're on oxygen with copd. It isn't worth the risk of cancer, heart disease, limb amputation etc.

Every cigarette you light is a conscious choice to put yourself one day closer to all of that.

When I started vaping , I still smoked cigs but not as much . I gradually just quit smoking cigs all together . Your will power is stronger then you know , just keep reminding yourself you are ready to quit and they taste so nasty . In all honestly mind over matter .

I know I'm doing that too cause it's so nasty. And I'm so worried about what I'm doing to my body. It's mind over matter for me.

I carry my empty prescription bottle in my purse from the last time I went to the doctor for bronchitis, which was caused by smoking. It was steroids for my infected right lung. Every time I crave, I look at that bottle and tell myself that if I smoke again, to get ready for COPD. It works pretty fast.

Or just look at myself in the mirror and ask myself am I really craving to lull myself? Because that's what stupid cigs do and that's it.

There's an app called get rich or die smoking. It's basically a smoking support app. It helped me
