38+7 today and went to my last "regular" appointment. My midwife says everything looks good and since I'm not showing any labor signs (I haven't even lost my plug) she set up an induction for 1/22. However she didn't check my cervix or see if I'm dilated. She did check his heartbeat and did a quick ultrasound to make sure he's head down (which he is). Is it normal she didn't check for dilation?

My doctor doesnt check but she did ask me if i wanted to be at my last appointment. I was 39+5 and had her do it becauae I wanted to know and also had her strip my membranes.. It really means absolutely nothing and doesn't predict when you might have your baby. Don't forget that you are the patient and you can always tell her you'd like to be checked. Most doctors will do it if you ask, they just don't offer it.
