Maybe they are concerned about kids climbing out? I don't see the problem with kids riding in the basket. What scares me is when a car seat is placed on top.

I used to sit ds carseat in the basket. I don't see an issue with a child being in the basket, on top is a nono

Zor we did the same thing 4 years ago when sd was a baby. I had no idea/didn't realize how dangerous it was. Thats one reason why I love this app. I've learned so much about baby safety.

I worked in a grocery store years ago and the reason they put that warning about the kids in the basket is because they could pinch their fingers on the upper seat part if they're playing with it, plus I've seen times where older children stand at the furthest part almost knocking it over.

I definitely had my daughter in her car seat on the top. It was 5 years ago and I never gave it a second thought :( but my 5 year old daughter still rides in the basket. She just sits in there and plays on my phone.

I put my daughters seat at the top part of the buggy every time I went grocery shopping until she was about 5 months and sitting up well. The car seat clicked in and I never was not holding onto her so I never knew it wasn't safe. Everyone else did it too. I feel dumb now looking back. I'm not even buying an infant seat with this baby and plan on wearing him most of our outings. My daughter or niece will sit in the big part of the buggy and the other sits in the child part now. I didn't know that was dangerous either. They always sit and never stand up. What else can I do with two small toddlers?

Kids fall out of the big part of the cart all the time. Parents don't have their hands on an older child that far away. And They're looking away or reaching for something and the toddler leans over too far, etc. and Splat!
I know it's common, but it's dangerous too. :(

I would out carseat on top when we had to do heavy grocery shopping but mg carseat locks in it

@pp those latches aren't for your carseat to lock in. Those are most likely the latches for the car seat base.

They arent supposed to ride in the cart because its a fall risk. My son fell out of a cart with me right there. He never stood up before but that day he did and went to grab something. He was the right height that his waist bent right over the top and he fell straight on his head. Hes now 6 and perfectly fine. I terrified me so much I never go shopping with all 3 of my kids (or 2 when I only had 2) as it is very hard to chorale them sometimes and I never wanted to chance it again.

My neighbors kid fell out of the basket part too, he got excited and stood up suddenly or something while she was pushing it and toppled out.

As a child, I used to sit underneath the cart...
I know I couldn't have been the only one!

I used to ride on the front of the basket, hanging off. I was a rebel lol. In all seriousness I thank this app, I've only put dd's carseat on top twice. But it never crossed my mind that it wasn't safe until I came on BB. Now I just use my carrier or she sits in the seat with the strap.

My brothers flipped the basket over with me in it when I was still too young to remember anything. Lol.
