Say WHAT?
A coworker tried to convince me that a (healthy, low risk) pregnant woman needs to consume over 5,000 calories a day!!!! And that when I breastfeed I need to up it to 6,500! Is this something I missed?? I've only heard the 300-500 calorie increase.

You are right. 300 early on and then 500 calories later. You would be gaining 3lbs a day at that rate!

Are you a mom or a defensive end? LOL

I raised my eyebrow and smiled when she said it. There is no way I've been eating (or will start eating 5,000 calories a day).

You could probably eat that all in one go at McDonalds just having a combo.

I think she's confused calories with kilojoules (energy unit measurement in Australia). That's a lot of calories and anyone who did it would be obese by the end of this year

I never increased my calories. Stuck with 1600 daily in my first pregnancy. 1600 with this one.

In all you only need to eat a added banana a day with your regular meals

Wow, is she a bodybuilder?lol that's crazy!
deleted-user·
Woah, I can't imagine eating that much calories in a day! I'd feel stuffed and sick. Maybe she believe in the "eat for two" myth.
deleted-user·
That's a bit...excessive. ..
deleted-user·
Sure, if you want to gain what I did in my pregnancy.
deleted-user·
Well at least it's safe for me to eat this entire case of Oreos now ;P

What?!! Yaya so now we can eat non stop!
You know what, just stick the food iv bag in lol.
Geez what is that person on? Where do people in general get their info from and why don't they check their sources before spewing out nonsense lol.
You are correct, just up calories by a few hundred if preggo or bf'ing.
