officially have gestational diabetes :-(
I failed my 1hr glucose. But based on how high my levels were. My dr does not want to even bother with the 3hr. My 1hr levels were high enough that GD could be diagnosed. Feel so bummed......now I have to wait to meet with a nutritionist

I failed my 3 hr as well and before they even got the results my dr acted as though I would come back positive for GD high urine sample the visit before and my eye sight has gotten really bad. I'm nervous about my little one getting to big so fast I'm only 26+6 weeks and measuring normal but go back for my 3 hr test Monday I don't even know where to begin.

Had it with my first pregnancy the last 3 weeks before I gave birth .. And with this pregnancy I was out on insulin right away as a precaution (only night time insulin as my fasting number is high) .. Try to limit your carb intake to 45g per meal (breakfast, lunch and supper) eat every 2 hrs .. You should have 3 snacks of 30g of carbs per snack.. Should help you until you meet the nutritionist read the labels on everything..
The good thing is you can subtract your fiber from your carb number so eating whole grain food is best .. Avoid high starchy foods .. Have half a plate of veggies a quarter protein and a quarter carbs .. Msg me if you need any help:. I've had cheat days as well as long as it's in moderation .. :) good luck

I had it too and mine was diet/exercise controlled. I was put on a low GI diet and told to go for a short walk after the bigger meal of the day.
It was actually a good thing for me because the new diet made me feel so much healthier and I had more energy from the regular exercise. But like pp said, it's not fun... you already have some restrictions in pregnancy so it did make things hard sometimes - like no take out on those nights you can't be bothered cooking.
All the best love!

I had it with my daughter. It's not fun at all but it's not as bad as you'd think. Mine was strictly diet controlled. Hope yours is able to be as well.

My sister had gd with my niece, she had take insulin shots.

But right after she gave birth it went away

I was diabetic before I got pregnant and so.certain than I visit my On once a week to monitor me plus I see a cardiologist because diabetes can affect the heart but all in all I am blessed to be taken care of so well and keep my baby healthy.

When do they test for this? Does everyone get tested?

I am right there with you. I failed my 1hr and they want me back for the 3hr but since I had it last time I am refusing the 3hr and just accepting the diet plan and possible insulin. It sucks, but we gotta do whats best for our little ones. :) There is a GD board up here if you need support or recipes.

Ohh Noo! Take care of yourself! I pray you only have it during pregnancy and not afterwards.
