Thanks ladies. I have a referral for a cardiologist consult. The cardiovascular office is closed today so I will call tomorrow

My resting heart rate is usually 100-120, but I've always been that way. My heart structure is excellent and I've been in with cardio before and after pregnancy only to confirm my heart rate is normal. It sounds like you might be experiencing palpitations which is common during pregnancy and will show up on an EKG. I'd call into your clinic and mention it, but its usually harmless especially if your bp is good. When the pounding and racing starts, try to relax. Extra rest and water can help keep those palpitations away. Avoid caffeine too as that can be a trigger. GL!

@loveyah a resting hr of 120-130is most certainly not normal, not even during pregnancy. I'd be pushing for a cardio consult. Not to scare anyone here dealing with palpitations or tachycardia, but cardiomyopathy can occur during pregnancy or during the postpartum period. If you have any concerns that what you are feeling is serious, please demand they refer you to a cardiologist for a consult. I have heart disease (not preg related) and its nothing to mess around with.

My resting hr is 120-130 if I walk up the stairs or go for a slow walk my heart races. With my last baby my hr was 170-200 when I was in labour. I was worried but all the doctors and nurses told me I was fine. I don't think its normal but no one seemed to care. And same with this pregnancy. No one seems to really care.

I had a couple of spells of it during my last pregnancy. I would just lay down and drink some water. If it doesn't go down quickly, I would call your doc, but if it goes down, it should be fine.

This is happening to me, so my doctor is testing me for hyperthyroidism

I get the results next week

I had tachycardia with my last pregnancy, anxiety really contributed. I ended up on meds to lower my bp which in turn would calm my racing heart by the end of the pregnancy. I was in emerg for it several times with concern starting at about 17 weeks, it never seems to be too threatening though, just uncomfortable for me and worrisome which I think made it worse. Just try being calm, taking deep breaths and really avoiding caffeine, I'm finding this pregnancy if I have caffeine my heart races.

Call the nurse line.. Always take extra precaution when its something like this...they might want you to come in..Anf multiples always pose a higher risk in any situation. .good luck..I hope its nothing. .

@xo.roxanne.ox. was the machine given to you by your OB or your cardiologist? How long do you have to be on it?

With the extra blood flowing, it is bound to happen. I get it all the time, especially when I'm laying down. I kinda freak sometimes but remember it will pass. I do something else and forget about it....lol until it happens again.

110 isn't too bad. Do you FEEL like your heart is racing/pounding? I would try drinking a bunch of water and see if it helps.

I have... I currently have a machine to check for tachycardia. I was getting closer to 140-150bpm.

I was told sometimes tachycardia can be normal in pregnancy
