HELP!!! I am so confused and disappointed so far with my ivf cycle. Today was my stim day 7 u/s and the scan shows only…

On day 8 of my stims I had zero follicles and they did all the highest doses and day 10 I had 10 follicles. A week later they collected 10 eggs 8 fertilized and 3 made it. Hang in there. I was so depressed and upset that it wa stage end of the road for us and with in a week everything had changed for us. Good luck with everything and I hope they catch a lot of eggs for you to fertilize!

i was in a same situation 4 folli. they end up collecting 8 egg. i when in second time they got the same amount so now i know my body produces low amount of egg. maybe u are like that too even u cancel this time u might not get more next time .its a big decision and its def ur decision .good luck

Feel better today, ultrasound today is showing up to 8 follicles and like 4 are already in the 20s mm.

Nurse called, I have an appointment for tomorrow morning again to see what everything looks like but said probably they re still looking that I may trigger tomorrow night which will be day 10. I was hoping I will continue to be stimmed at least for 1 or 2 more days to see if eight ovary would get better. Right now, estrogen @ 1253. I discussed with them with cancellation would look like but she said she can't say but she will ask my RE to call me so I can talk to him if that will make me feel me better. Am thinking should I just proceed or ? Just kinda confused if this is ever what I would get even if I try again or just move on with this cycle with a very slim chance.

UPDATES: thanks ladies. By u/s this morning, they found one 9.5mm sprout up on the right and few tiny ones ( like 7mms or 8mms) so apparently it's a slow growth on my right ovary still. but they are saying to wait for my right ovary to catch up isn't a good idea for them because that would mean that the ones on left will be growing bigger and bigger and that's not what they would want to happen. Right now on my left they have 19s, 21s to make 4 in number ( and 1 that's 9.5mm on right) . They re waiting on my lab (estrogen) to come back and report to RE and to call me and let me know what RE wants to. Am so confused and disheartening that my right ovary isnt catching up like it used to when I did IUIs. May be if they had up my dose since day 5 check, it could have been better. I just feel like am at the mercy of what they decide they want to and unfortunately I can't do nothing to help myself.

linsaguyen: my RE didn't start me on bcp. He went straight to ivf the cycle following the previous one where I had failed IUI.

Jlwood: your story is inspiring. I'm like 138 pds actually for 5'3 height and don't think my weight should be a factor even. And I will be moving from the area to another state in about 7months due to work and while we already paid so much to the clinic already. If I do cancel, I may have to restart again right away thinking hopefully few months I have left will be enough to restart and complete before my relocation.

Bolency last year I did an IVF cycle with 125u GonalF and 75u Menopur. I was also about 40lbs heavier. I ended up with 4 follicles developing. Because that cycle was partially funded I was crushed at the response. They did up my meds, because at first my body was doing nothing but in the end we cancelled the cycle and converted to an IUI instead

After a year of soul searching searching and a little weight loss I went back to my clinic and the doctor said I was under dosed the last time. So this time I started on 250u Gobal F and 75u Menopur. Part way through the cycle we upped GonalF to 300u. The menopur never changed. I responded so much better the second time around and we retrieved 17eggs, 10 mature and 5 made to blast. I’m 39 so older first time mom.

I’m glad we cancelled our last cycle and waited. If you won’t be out a lot of money then perhaps that may be a route for you too, but it seems like you are on pretty good doses of meds to start. One nurse told me last year that older moms sometimes need higher doses because of the way our hormones are (can’t remember the exact wording). I was told this cycle that GonalF’s max dose was 300u but I see that my pen dialed up past 300u so I’m not sure.

I know it’s disappointing when our bodies don’t do what we think they will. Look at what your options are and weigh the pros and cons and you’ll make the right decision for you! ❤️

@bolenchy- did you start your cycle with bcp? My first two cycles started with bcp and with the third my RE put me on estrodiol patches instead as to not suppress my ovaries. Just something to ask your dr about.

Thanks for the info on switching the needles lol....Will tell dh next time to switch d needles using the one from menopur. Glad to learn about estrogen,thanks. Not getting enough sleep as I should but the nurse said half tab of Unisom is fine so have been doing dat too.

Oh don’t despair my dear!!! It’s just getting started!! The higher estrogen is wonderful!! This is the hormone that grows your eggs!! Yay!! Also, give it time!! Your med dose sounds pretty good, not too low. Low med cycles are way less meds than you’re on!

A tip that saved me with cetrotide: switch the injection needle supplied with the Menapur! I got it to fit and it’s smaller gauge pink so it didn’t hurt as much!!! My Nurses said it was Ok and well, it worked for me. :)

Try to stay calm! The anxiety isn’t good for this process and it won’t help anything! Get massages, do yoga, watch some shows. Give your ovary some time to catch up. It sounds as though you have history of it working so give it some time. It’s going to be all right. ❤️

Lcubed: am just 34. I just called them today again to insist on meds adjustment but they said until my ultrasound tomorrow for day 9 before they will decide hopefully they will be able to if they find out am a low responder. And I do not have pcos spam thinking it shouldn't be a problem to increase my dose. am so concerned why my right ovary isnt responding and it's been in good shape and even sometime produce more follicles than left during iui. My RE put on Gona-f 225 and menopur 225 as well. I started cetrotide on day 6 ( cetrotide hurts the worst when going in ?). Also, yesterday when the nurse called after my u/s , he said my estrogen is doing nicely cos it went from 207 to 550 from day 5 to day 7 but I didn't even understand the implications of dat cos she left a voicemail so I couldn't ask .

I have have read that a slow low med Cook has been proven for older women. Like they don’t get as many but the ones they get are stronger. Not sure how old you are but something to think about.

Also, that does sound strange that they don’t want to increase meds. Unless your meds are already high? For me, every time I went for an ultrasound and blood tests, they adjusted my meds accordingly. I had PCOS and they couldn’t overstim me and cause OHSS or understim and not get enough. Out of the 35 eggs they retrieved, 22 were mature. Then only 14 fertilized and 8 made it to blast. Then after PGS testing, I ended up with 5 viable. They placed a non tested one fir fresh transfer. So my numbers were 150 gonal f and 75 Menapur to start. Centrotide to prevent ovulation. They cut back when my estrogen shot up to 6k!

Do not cancel - that may be all your body will ever produce. I only had five and now I have a baby. It only take one. Don’t be discouraged. Not all woman produce a ton and that is ok —stay on course.

@Lcubed: I picked them because I have been using them since day 1 since I started infertility treatment as it was the one referred by my insurance. I Mentioned about dose increase but no answer from them. Think I'll push more for dat as you said. It's just depressing that most of the time at the clinic you only get to talk to the nurses but not the the RE unless after the end of your cycle where you discuss next step with RE if the current cycle fails. I have 9 day u/s tomorrow, I will definitely echo it again for the nurse how bad I want my meds to increase. Will keep u updated.

Though, we only want a child out of this ivf , we already have 1 DD (natural) and dh doesn't want more than 2 kids , it would be nice to have a DS out of this but just not convincing enough if 5 follicles will get us there.

I think if you cancel, you still have to pay for what’s been covered so far. So you’ll be out money for nothing!! I recommend you talk to them about higher stim meds and see if they think it’ll help you. I would hate for you to cancel your cycle to find out that no matter what protocol you’d be stuck with just 5 follicles. I know with low AMH, that can happen. So please, maybe get a second opinion before doing anything drastic? That way maybe someone else can pick up where you left off and this doesn’t have to be cancelled cycle. I would start with your RE first. There must be a reason why you picked them!!!? Remember that when doing IVF, you’re SOOO hormonal! So just take a moment and get some facts and then make your decision! Like pp said, you may be surprised and at 7 days in, you still have time!

I don't know what to tell you. It is a big decision. What I can say is that I just had my first cycle and there were only 7 follicles in total but they got 13 eggs. Talk with your clinic about the pros and cons and financials. Good luck and sorry it isn't working out as planned
