Too good to be true?

If you were offered an amazing job offer but it sounded too good to be true. Would you take it?

All business takes time to start up .

It's gonna be a loss for the first few months starting up

I took a second job at a business that just opened up and it's so slow at the moment; i.e. Getting the word out advertising etc

I get maybe 5 hours a week

So luckily I work 30 hours a week at my main job

I think it's riskier to join a start up business. I would have to have a bigger stake in the business in order to just up and leave a steady job for a start up.

His boss can't even really make all those promises if he hasn't even started yet. He should wait, see how they are doing, and then move over if they seem to be doing well.

Has this guy even made steps to start the business? Or just flapping his jaws? I know this sort of thing happens a lot...but how well it actually goes is a toss up. I would think it would be safer for your husband to stay where he is at, and if things magically go great then he can work for this other guy. After all the stability of your family is more important than this guy wanting your husband to work for him.

My DH just did this. He was a locksmith for a national company back in FL. He was doing well there but miserable. His former boss basically recruited him for a different company back in GA. It's a bit different since this new company has been around a few years (although DH's current boss used be employed by the national company, too) but it's been great. He's making more, home sooner, and just MUCH happier. He got promoted last month with a HUGE bonus this month. I was hesitant about it since we had to move from a large city to a much smaller one, but no regrets.

That's what I'm thinking. Like I feel he's just coming up with stuff to get them to switch and forgetting little important things that cost money too. I feel like he doesn't exactly know or have went over everything that goes into owning and managing his own business. Who says he won't just knock the wage down when things get tough? How come he is starting out higher when everyone else is lower? Would they just get less hours per week or what?

He'd have signed it when he was hired. I wouldn't do it either. How can the guy be saying that their customers will be moving over to the new business and that he'll make more money when it hasn't even started yet? Sounds like he's just saying anything to get people to join him

Would he have signed the noncompete when he was hired or when he resigned? I'll definitely tell my husband to ask because I never even thought of something like that.

That's also what I'm worried about because I know my aunt won't hire the new company because he's back stabbing the old. And they do a lot of work for her. I'm worried other clients will think the same and not hire them.

I would move in the future if the new company works out. For now I'd stay put. I don't know how things are with his boss and his company but insurance is usually better/cheaper at bigger companies because they get better deals the more employees they have, for me that would've been enough not to go with the new boss if he's promising something he may not be able to accomplish. Aaaaaand if he's a manager he probably signed a non-compete and could be facing a law suit pretty soon and he's probably going to loose so your husband might be out of a job.

Definitely check to see if a non-compete contract was signed.

Yeah that's at best a jerk move to steal the client's and employees and at worst illegal. I would have no part of it. I don't work for people with crappy morals.

I would not. Also depending on the job you can get in huge trouble for creating a similar company and stealing clientele. I would suggest your husband stay where he is and once the new company is established and running then see if he can switch.

I find it pretty hilarious how people who have shown their true colors on social media snake away, delete the posts that outed them and come back on social media like nothing happened. Why do that, you outed yourself, so stay out. We still see you boo boo...
