To address the original post, I did delayed cord clamping with both of my babies.. But people like this give practices like delayed clamping a bad name and give the rest of us a "nutso" stereotype.

Delayed cord clamping is not going to prevent ADHD, eating disorders, behavorial issues, mental disabilities, or learning issues.

I did my research on delayed cord clamping. My midwife (who works under a doctor) supports it. It is more for the red blood cells and nutrition purposes though. We aim for at least 5 minutes but will not approach 30 as long as the baby is born healthy.

Don't make those that support *logical* delayed clamping look like fruitcakes. Don't want you on this team. ?

This is why her baby in under the light. My ob explained that if a baby is preterm, she will delay clamping. If the baby is term, she will slightly delay but if delayed too much the baby can become jaundice.

Uh no, delaying cord clamping is not going to prevent things like that, and I feel bad for this poor kid growing up with a parent that thinks it's now impossible for any of those things to develop in their child

I had to specifically ask them not to clamp the cord right away, to wait 15 min at least. they didn't respect my wishes and clamped and cut it right away.

I'm fine if you want to do delayed cord clamping but to make all these claims is ridiculous. What happens if this baby ends up with any of the things mentioned? They're going to probably deny their kid has a problem and let him get sick or they will just look like idiots.

Ok so delayed cord clamping is standard practice here in Australia as long as there are no complications.

And while it does have amazing benefits this persons post is just stupid.

I guess whoever wrote this had their "chord" clamped before it was done pulsating.

Well isn't that excellent that delayed clamping will cure any chance of having mental/physical issues later in life.
