I know. Our law doesn't even give specifics on what needs to be used through age 8 so as long as a child meet "requirements" they can use a backless booster.

On the upside, Texas is a proper use state so as more car seats require minimum standards to be age 2 you can direct it being illegal to someone.

Dorel (safety 1st, Eddie Bauer, & cosco) seat minimums are 34" & 22lb.... Which most 1 year old son don't meet.

Unfortunately in Texas it's still 1 for now so many turn them at 1. No matter what the physics say. ?

Here's the thing. Rear facing until 2 is NOT "safer", it's the *only* safe option!

The skeleton of a child under the age of 2 is not developed enough to withstand the force of an accident when forward face. Thus forward facing a child under 2 is dangerous & literally life threatening as nobody wakes up & plans to get in an accident.

It's not opinion, it's not "parenting choice", it's physics and fact.

I really wish the terminology of certain things would change. Maybe then parents would stop endangering their kids.

Thankfully more & more states are changing laws to match safety recommendation minimums. If only it could happen faster.

My 4 year old is tiny and ff. I turned her around at about 18 months because she would scream non stop. I understand she is safer but I think we are all safer with her ff because I can't handle her screaming and screeching while I'm trying to drive.

My son is 2 and is ff for the same reason. Once he hit about 18-20 months he would hate being in his seat until I turned his seat around.

Call me a bad mom or a bad driver I don't really care. I can not drive safely and attentively with a child screaming at the top of their lungs the entire way. And we are in the car quite often.

Oh yea she knows. But because he outgrew his infant seat it's ok.

I know someone who continuously posts videos and photos with views of her self with her child ff at 10 months UNSTRAPPED in an unsecured car seat with no base. Meanwhile, mommy has on her seat belt. I've actually been wanting to make a post about this bc I'm scared a minor fender bender could be deadly. A few people have pointed out or to her on social media, but she always lies or has an excuse. I don't understand how/why she can drive around with her baby like that.

Yeah, I agree with that being too young. Does the mom know? If not maybe nicely inform her. If she does know, I guess there's nothing else you can do. It sucks, but if we are all supposed to be making the SAFEST choices 24/7 we are all failing. Unless, of course, bubble boys mom is around here somewhere. ?

Exactly that. I know technically they are safe by reaching the bare minimum but they would be much safer rear facing.

I just feel if your child would be much safer why wouldn't you? Especially if there is a lot of room to grow in the seat.

What's the situation you're referring to? A child isn't automatically unsafe if they aren't in the SAFEST situation. For example: a 3 year old who is forward facing, buckled in correctly with a top rated car seat, who reaches all height/weight limits of said seat, isn't unsafe. However if he/she were rear facing, they would be safer. That child's parents aren't putting her in danger even though they aren't choosing the safest option.
