Trishmorfitt, it's not about disability so much as you are more likely to get injured. More likely to pull a muscle because of the hormone relaxin, more likely to fall due to center of gravity like you said, more likely to have heart problems since our bodies are pumping up to 50% more blood than normal and more likely to just be exhausted because you are growing a human. You are right we are far from helpless, but being cautious about all the things you do is still important.

There was an article last year, saying that quite a number of people become very unwell after shovelling snow as its cold outside and they get overheated which can set off your heart...

Not that I'm implying you have a heart problem, but would there not be a chance that it could overheat the baby or cause preterm labour? I'd be wary at this stage..x

I did/do pretty much everything I ever did. Lifting, shoveling, yard work, whatever.

Pregnancy is not an illness or disease or disability, and I don't have a single hesitation making sure people know that!! We are growing another human!! That is FAR from helpless!!

Yeah there are some added risks when your center of gravity is off, but if you're smart and careful, there's no reason you can't continue living life!

You know your body, listen to it. Be careful not to slip and take it slow.

If youve been active throughout your pregnancy it should be fine. Just be careful about falling, and stop if you have pain or feel off.

The physical part seems okay. I would be worried about slipping if it's slick out.

I'm not even that far along yet and I asked if he'd like me to shovel a pathway when he got home (SO), all I got was,"Don't you touch that shovel. I'll do it when I get home." It threw me way off. Guess I shouldn't have asked just have gone and done it.

I would! I'm in Michigan, no snow yet, but if it needed to be done it's all on me. Especially bc where my SO works they do snow removal during the winter. If it snows, he's not home for days so it's on me.

I probably would say screw it if it was insanely heavy and over a certain amount of inches or at least clear a path on the side walk and path to the porch.
