He’s a lab pit mix. We rescued him from the SPCA so that’s all I know. He looks more lab than pit.

I work at a vet clinic and I've seen people do Shadow boxes when they've lost a pet..

Sounds like an Internal Medicine case. Needs an Internist, consult. Could be GI related, liver etc.

Ultrasound and possibly further blood work is needed so I am glad that it is the next step.

I lost my furbaby of 10 years to cancer. It was on of the most difficult moments of my lifw.

Awe no diary I’m so sorry to hear that. Cancer in dogs sucks because u never know until it’s too late. I’d ask the vet to go a paw print. We’ve even clipped some hair for owners at their request. Sorry I worked in the vet field for 16 years. Also when u have to euthanize u can get his or her ashes back. They usually will come in a nice wood box with their names on it. Losing a pet is so hard. I know u haven’t lost her/him yet but maybe u can spend some extra tine snuggling up with your pup!! U can pm me anytime with any questions u might have

I just lost my 7 year old golden on Friday due to hemangiosarcoma. I am very sorry. It is awful. I bought a beautiful engraved memory box off Etsy for my daughter to keep some of his toys and his leash and collar in. I also did a stone with his paw prints and name to put where we bury his ashes.

I’m sorry about your dog. It’s so hard to lose a pet. I lost a dog to lymphoma and he was only 5 too. The vet made gave me a paw print in clay that I still have. Maybe you could frame a picture of your dog to give to your boyfriend.

I really wish I got my girls paw prints on something. I was lucky enough to have her thirteen years, but when she went it was like losing a best friend. I had that dog almost my whole life, and definitely the hardest parts of my life. I kept her collar which hangs beside my bed, and I have pictures of her framed around the house. I’m so sorry you’re going through this.

I know the pain of losing a dear pet. It’s like losing a member of your family. We lost a cat to kidney cancer. By the time they caught it, it was too late and advanced very quickly. It was heartbreaking.

I wish you and your doggy the best. It’s not fair when their lives get cut short.

I'm sorry :(

I’m so, so sorry. That’s what my 6 year old golden retriever passed from in February. We didn’t even know she was sick, she’d been acting fine. But she ended up having a mass on her spleen that ruptured, we rushed her to the emergency vet and she passed within an hour. It’s so heartbreaking to lose our precious fur babies.

Update (not that anyone really saw my post anyways): my dog has two large masses on his liver that also spread to his spleen. They suspect hemangiosarcoma. He has maybe a month to live. My baby is only five years old. I’m devastated ? thank you to the two people that sent me well wishes when I first posted this.

@mommy, yes they did. He’s not diabetic. That is one thing they thought at first also, but blood tests ruled that out. My mind is just going to the worst, like cancer. Best case scenario is liver disease which is treatable.

Something similar happened to my dog last month. Fast weight loss, lethargic and was constantly thirsty. He became very critical fast as he was in Ketoacidosis. Through testing, they diagnosed him with diabetes. His liver was enlarged with his ultrasound also, but they said that wasn’t uncommon to find with the diabetes.

Hope they get to the bottom of a diagnosis for your pup. It’s so sad to see them struggle, but also financially it’s super expensive for all the testing :( I imagine they did test for your dogs blood sugar while there?
