Help!
I’ve been breastfeeding for two months now and all of a sudden my baby is crying when I try to get her to latch and she refuses to latch! It mostly happens on my right side. At first I thought she wasn’t hungry and that’s why she isn’t latching, but obviously she’s hungry at some point and still cries when I try. Anyone have any insight on to why this is happening and what I can do? I don’t want to give up breastfeeding. It’s been pretty easy before this because we have figured out what has worked for us. I do the football hold every time because I have giant boobs! Lol. No other position feels right.

Maybe she’s gassy? Have you changed anything in your diet that could affect her? We found out around that time dd had a lactose allergy so I had to completely change my diet.

My DD2 does this if my let down is fast or too slow. My dd gets impatient

My DD stopped latching for a few days on my left side when she was around 8 weeks. I was in tears because I had already dealt with plugged ducts and mastitis on that side. It may seem strange, but I figured out that if I had her suck on my thumb first (nail side down) for a minute, then immediately gave her the nipple, she would latch. Not sure why it worked. I only had to do that for a day and then she went back to nursing normally.

Have you been offering a bottle or pacifier recently?

If I'm not really full or if I'm to full and let down is fast my son comes off. I guess he's a picky eater lol
If your pretty full try hand expressing some before baby latches.

She usually latches pretty good when I’m really full. Usually in the morning. I give her a bottle a day (sometimes I skip it) and she loves the pacifier so she gets that almost every time she goes to sleep. I introduced the bottle around three weeks and the whole time she has had no problem going back and forth. She just hates my right boob now for some reason.

@aubri, thanks for the tip! I’m definitely going to try that ?

I had the same problem with ds. It lasted around 2 days and then he went back to taking both

I remember DD doing this for a couple of days, only wanting the left breast all the time.
Eventually I expressed a bit of milk, then she latched on properly.
I also had trouble feeding on the right the day she was born thanks to a cannula in my right wrist, I couldn't hold her comfortably that side until it was removed.
